One of my latest new gunpla.

The RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type is a Ground-Type Mobile Suit developed by the Earth Federation Forces, and the first ever Gundam to be mass-produced, but at limited numbers, and originally appeared in the OVA series: The 08th MS Team. Developed by spare parts originally intended for the RX-78 Gundam, the EFF, not wanting to let them go to to waste, used the parts to field test their mobile suit tactics.

Weapons-wise, the Gundam Ground Type is equipped with two beam sabers stored in the lower legs, a 100mm machine gun, a 180mm cannon that can be stored in a storage container, and on the chest is a gattling cannon & a multi-launcher.

The most well-known pilot for the RX-79[G] is Shiro Amada, who leads the 08th MS Team, in which his unit would be later be repaired, and heavily modified into the Gundam Ez8. Karen Joshua, another MS Pilot of the 08th MS Team, would have her Gundam Ground Type lose the original head, and have it replaced with that of a GM Ground Type.

Like the RX-78, the RX-79[G] would have a mass-produced version, the GM Ground Type, which shares 80% of it's parts. Three RX-79[G]'s would later be modified into the Blue Destiny units, prototype mobile suits that are developed for the EXAM system, which allows pilots to mimic the fighting abilities of Newtypes.
