Normally I'd stay out of stuff like this. However, when it involves someone like Donald Trump, I feel like I need to speak.

Let me begin by saying that while I may not exactly be fond of Hillary Clinton (personally, I'd rather vote for Bulk and Skull than either of these two). My dislike for Hillary is nowhere near the amount of sheer hatred I have toward Donald Trump, and let me explain why...

For starters, he has gone out of his way to piss off just about every ethnicity in America with the bigoted and xenophobic words that have come out of his mouth. He also believes that he can force a foreign country to help pay for a fence that I'm certain that they do not want that'll end up costing far more than what he says it will and likely won't prevent illegal immigration (because there's a little something called "the Gulf of Mexico". I guarantee that people will find a way to get into the country regardless of what Trump might try to stop it).

However, this is the major reason why I will not support Donald Trump. Anyone who says that they would consider inviting the likes of Kim-Jong Un to Washington (you know, the guy who has "declared war" on the U.S. on multiple occasions, has been trying to acquire nuclear weapons for years and has had his own family members violently executed). Yeah, because that totally sounds like a guy who's worthy of being trusted...wait, WHAT?!!

Let me tell you something right now, NO sane person (republican, democrat, independent, etc.) would EVER consider inviting the likes of Kim-Jong Un to Washington, because that would be like a mouse inviting the cat into the mouse hole! If that wasn't bad enough, then there's also the fact that Trump also praised Saddam Hussein for being "tough on terrorists" (despite the fact that Saddam was responsible for using chemical weapons on his own people, invaded Kuwait, and was just as much of a dictator as Kim Jong-Un is).

The bottom-line here is this...Trump would make a terrible president. He'd create far more problems than he'd "solve" and things would likely end up being worse in the U.S. than they are now. To be fair, I honestly don't think things would be a whole lot different from where they are now under Clinton...but I will not, nor will I ever support Donald Trump!

I feel obliged to point out that the US had no problems with Saddam during the Iran-Iraq war, backing Saddam against the Ayatollahs. And that the US has a rather unsavory history of backing despots around the globe (Pinochet et al) simply because "as least they weren't commies".

That being said, I agree with you 100% about Trump. As a non-American, it boggles the mind to see that the contest for leadership of the world's only superpower has turned into a real-life "Alien vs. Predator" - good grief, is THIS the best that America has to offer? A politician for life with more baggage than an Airbus A380 on an international flight, versus a lying xenophobic hatemongering charlatan with the attentions span of a mayfly and an intellect to match?

I am well aware of the fact that the US did support Saddam Hussein during the Iran-Iraq war, although I didn't find out about this until a couple years ago. Considering what Saddam did to his own people, I do feel ashamed that our government once helped a guy who was a genocidal dictator.

Anyway, getting back to Donald Trump (and this year's election as a whole). I agree with what you said about both Hillary and Donald. I've been saying for months about both parties that "if these are the best candidates you have to offer, then I really hate to see your worst"! I'm a person who values things like logic and common sense and Donald Trump seems to completely lack both!

I would be more than happy to vote against Donald Trump, but unfortunately I cannot consciously support Hillary either (because she has had a tendency of making poor decisions at times). I'd much rather either just sit this one out or (as I said earlier) cast my vote for Farkis Bulkmeier and Eugene Skullovich. Because while Bulk and Skull might be bumblers, at least their hearts are in the right place.

I don't get to vote, I'm not a citizen, but look toward the Libertarian party.. they've been gaining some real ground in the polls. A lot of people are sick and tired of having to choose between two evils.

Other than the whole problem of "anarchist libertarians" being for an economic system that has a two century history of not simply failing but totally destroying economies every time we even get close to it and "moralist libertarians" being people who want to return to being able to force the (insert minority here) out of mainstream society.[1]

That, and the standard problem with these third party vanity campaign for President . If a party isn't seriously running for at least 40 Senate seats, 300 House seats plus as least half of the Governorships, (under similar conditions at the state level to what I outline for the federal level), any Presidential run is a joke.


TBH, if you want a new party to compete at the federal level in the US there are two things to do:

1 - Start building that new party from the ground up. Don't go for the nation without being a big player in a bunch of states, don't try for states without being a player in the big cities and don't expect to get more than one big city before you have a whole bunch of small cities and towns. For now your goal is being able to go to the major parties and say "we can deliver 8% of the vote, what will you give us for it?"

2 - Kill the GOP. In the entire history of the US, only two of the main parties were created out of whole cloth[2]. Every other party came bout because the other party died and the Democratic Party had a faction split off to either form a new party or merge with the remnants of the other party.

You mean the party that still pretty much as laissez-faire capitalism as a core plank? Including the elimination of any meaningful regulation, minimum wages, a decent education for any whose parents can't afford a good school and making the problems of the US health care system even worse. The economic portion of their platform is pretty much a return to the time that the US spent two out of every three years in recession and people were free to sell turpentine and alcohol as medicine as well as food that was rotten and unsafe to eat.

At least they don't have the "legalize child prostitution" bit that they used to because they dropped the plank about minors becoming emancipated upon demand.

Regrettably, that's been a policy of the US for decades. We've supported some rather 'fun' individuals and governments in the pursuit of anti-Communist policies as well as maintaining stability for trade and trade routes.

This is not the best America has to offer. Our best are quickly shot down because they aren't dramatic, they don't yell, or they don't bring media-worthy controversy with them. I feel that Trump is the final key to bringing media entertainment and politics into one entity. Reality TV and US Government Policy will be one in the same.

They also quickly get shot down because of the mud-slinging, the diving into their pasts, and the smallest tangential link between them and some sort of nefarious personage.

I agree with what you said about Hillary being no better or worse than Bill was, and I also agree that Obama would probably be a better president than Hillary would (as well as leagues better than Donald Trump). However, I must respectfully disagree with you about Bernie Sanders (at least in a way).

On paper, Bernie seemed like the "anti-Trump" in my mind. In theory that sounds like a good thing (given what has come out of Donald Trump's mouth on numerous occasions). However, when you look at some of Bernie's proposed policies, they seem to be as destructive as some of Donald Trump's policies...only in a much different way.

You see, if Bernie's massive tax increases towards businesses were approved, it would cause significant damage to the economy. Sure, sometimes businesses can be rather greedy (and I've personally been the victim of corporate greed at one point in my life...at least until my union got wise to it), but the majority of business owners are just like every other honest person, they're just trying to make a living and unjustly increasing their tax rates to as much as 75%* would have devastating consequences.

Having said that though, I'd still think that (overall, at least) Bernie would be a better choice than Donald Trump...but then again, just about anyone would be better than him. Especially when some of Trump's behavior during the primary season brought up images of Chris-Chan!

Anyway, what I was going to say is that I couldn't be 100% sure that this was the exact number. However, what I did hear is that he wanted to increase the tax rate for businesses by a significant amount...one that would certainly be damaging towards businesses and hurt the overall economy.

Checking his website, On the Issues, Forbes and the Tax Foundation, I find nothing about raising the nominal business tax rate itself. There are two new payroll taxes that go to 6.4%, employer-side, when combined,with the intent to fund a 3 month family and medical leave initiative.

What they are talking about is his advocating closing the business tax loopholes that have allowed larger corporations reduce their tax burden from the nominal 35% to an effective 12.6% or lower.

He's been a bit vague on the details of his plans that would both help ... and hurt ... small business. But the nominal business tax rate hasn't, as far as I can find, been one of those adjustments.

I'm suggesting, and I could very well be wrong, that things have been like the parable of the frog in boiling water. That is, if you put a frog in a pot with cool water and gradually increase the heat until it stars boiling, the frog dosen't realize it's being boiled until its too late. But if you put a frog in boiling water right away, it will leap out to escape danger.

In this case, Clinton would be like business as usual, but a gradual increase in heat. Trump might possibly be boiling water: certainly we'll be getting burned badly, but maybe folks would be aware that they're getting scorched, and realize "Oh, shit, we better start paying attention to who we elect to power." A long shot, I know, and not likely, but I think people won't really pay attention unless they really feel the pain.
