I wouldn't say awful. He gets the essencials right, not to mention, he has improved when compared to earlier work, at the very least with coloring.
And I think his writing makes up for all of it, cuz he's obviously put a lot of heart into it.
He's got a style of his own, and I honestly think it works fine. There's not a whole lot of variation, but I don't think he needs it to convey what he wants to make.
