As the name says, this is the original render I used for my recent image. As you can see, the colors are way less freaky here. That's because the image was desaturated first, then worked on (screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ophbchcz10g44m5/Screenshot%202016-07-23%2014.23.54.png?dl=0 ). It was also pretty quick too, since my wolfess model has unfinished textures and zero fur effect, like that lumpy tail. |D

Just a small look into it, since I plan on using that technique again sometime. And I'm already using it to make a sci-fi background in another piece. :3
