About:
Bast is a Marid Djinn. Her ebony skin announces her as a king, her golden markings show her to be a powerful leader. Bast is both among the Djinn.

Born of a powerful Shaitan mother and a weak Hinn father, Bast is able to shapeshift, though she prefers to adopt feline features unlike her father. Most often, she will appear as an anthropomorphic ebony hairless Sphynx cat. Occasionally, she will adopt a more human form, keeping her long, hairless tail and ears. Very rarely will she appear as human. Even more rarely, she will adopt the form favoured by her father, a jackal. When she is enraged, she adopts a dragon form, sometimes feral, sometimes anthropomorphic.

History:
Centuries ago, Bast happened upon the Egyptians—then a small, insignificant people. She observed as they grew, often assisting in their development, whispering into the ears of kings and queens, priests and paupers, shaping ancient Egypt into the great empire it was. She did not go unnoticed by the ancient Egyptians—in fact, it is said that she—most often in feline form during her time amongst them—is the reason cats were so revered.

Habitat:
Unlike the majority of Djinn that make their homes in intimate objects, Bast lives within lightning. She takes comfort in the constant shifting, the energy. As such, she will often appear electrified, though she is not shocking to the touch. Unless she feels threatened or

Wishing:
It’s not easy to enslave Bast. As most Marid Djinn, she is the type that will grant three wishes, should you be fortunate enough to catch her. However, doing so would be incredibly difficult, as it would essentially require catching a lightning bolt. Should you be lucky enough to pick the one in six thousand lightning flashes that strike the earth every minute containing the powerful, ancient Djinn, choose—and word—your wishes wisely. Bast is chaotic, rebellious and malevolent and doesn’t take kindly to enslavement. It would be more advisable to set her free. Those that do so often find themselves with three freely given wishes, without the dangerous side effects.

Markings:
Bast’s golden markings glow, charged with the electricity that she favours. The patterns and even the location of her markings have been known to change, the only constant being the markings under her eyes. Always, the markings adopt an ancient Egyptian feel, despite where they are.
