Chains clinking, the scrape of his codpiece against the rock. That was the only sound Dark Enigma had known for the past ten years aside from his ragged breath. Locked alone in a dry, silent cave with no light. Unable to call upon anything. He had deserved it though, the passing time had given him plenty of time to consider his actions. How he had raised a dark army and tried to bring ruin upon the world. How he had consorted with fell forces, blasphemed.
When he'd been defeated, judged, and thrown in here, he'd shouted, yelled oaths of revenge... all for naught. Now the dark horse, a fallen magus once feared across the kingdoms, was stuck here wasting away, subsisting on what little arcane power he was allowed to use. He was meant to be here until his death, feeling himself waste away.
Then... a light? He blinked, and rubbed at his eyes. Surely not... but yes. There was a light approaching through the cave. Pure light... burning light that made him wince as the source got closer, forcing him to squint his eyes as they attempted to adjust after years of being in night-vision mode. And as the light properly touched him, it burned him at first. The way a holy flame burned at a sinner to cleanse them, to punish them. Yet... it felt good. When his eyes finally adjusted, he looked upon who was there... and gaped.
An angel. There was no question, not with that light in his hand, those pure white wings, that bright fur, those beautiful eyes... the smile. The radiant dog was shorter than him, but held himself with majesty, sureness. He bore no weapons, nor was his halo visible. Enigma wasn't sure what to feel in that moment. Was this angel here to punish him more? To send him to Hell? He tried to speak, but his voice cracked from lack of use, and he coughed.
The dog only smiled again and, held out his radiant hand. The burning sensation grew worse, but the horse could tell there was no intention of violence in the gesture. What could it be? What could this beautiful dog be offering him? Tentatively, with apprehension, Dark Enigma reached out, a glimmer of hope lighting in his heart. If not punishment... could this be... a chance at redemption?
