Having been a professional PHD (post hole digger), I've got to say that, unless you've got really soft and sandy soil, calling out a professional (or asking a friendly neighbourhood farmer) is definitely worth it. Barring that, may I suggest acquiring one of these, should you need to extend the fence? Best hundred bucks you spent, guaranteed.
