This turned out exactly how I imagined it! I wanted to capture the vibrant colours of a Chinese bamboo forest.
The panda's gender is unspecified, so you can interpret it anyway you like. It's holding a bamboo flute as a gift offering, tied with a ribbon of gold silk. The mark on it's forehead is a symbol of it's position within the forest - a revered bard.
I hope to do more bookmark pieces and paint creatures I haven't attempted before.
