Continuing my presentation of photo-ops, here I am with British-born singer/songwriter/musician Neil Innes. This photo was taken at The Bottom Line in NYC, where he was performing (Circa the 1980s).
Having associated with 'Monty Python' cast members and being a part of some of their films (e.g. "...the Holy Grail"/"...live at the Hollywood Bowl"), Innes performed some of his classic numbers, including the Bob Dylan-esque "Protest Song", among other works. No wonder he is often referred to as 'The Seventh Python'...
He's best known for being a part of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. Of course, in keeping with the animal-related theme of this website, some of the band's best works have animals in it, such as "Hunting Tigers Out in Indiah" ("...Hunting tigers can be ripping fun/Like three blind mice, see the hunters run...") and "Jollity Farm" ("...Regular as habit, the cocks begin to crow/Can the old buck rabbit say 'Stuff it up your jumper!'/Vo-do-de-oh...")
He was also part of the mockumentary group The Rutles (co-created by Eric Idle). Naturally, I have vinyl recordings from both groups.
The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band was also featured in The Beatles' 1967 made-for-TV project "Magical Mystery Tour".
Watch for more photos of me with other personalities in the weeks to come...
