This was quick little design I threw together recently at work. A customer had returned a wood easel that had a broken piece in it. A large strip of wood had splintered off in shipping and they wanted a new one. I was looking at the long somewhat scalloped shape splinter when suddenly I thought. " This would make a neat fuselage profile." On my lunch I took the piece in the break room with me and this is what came up with. I really had no idea what I was going to get I just let mind wander over the shape and let my subconscious fill in the missing data.
This is a variation on an exercise we use to do in art school where the instructor would bring in random shaped objects and we were expected to derive things based on the shapes in front of us. At first it was a hair tearing experience but as we did it more the better we got at it.
