Well here's something that's been a joy for me to work on. This is my latest commission for the very sexy Moth Wingthane! He's got a blue jay persona and daaamn if he's not pretty looking. *wolf whistles* ;}
I want to thank Moth
Moth-Wingthane for giving me a chance to draw this up for him and color it. I've tried some new techniques on this sexy fellow and have learned much by doing him.
*wing hugs and bukaws!* Thanks again, Moth, for allowing me to do this for you. :)

I'm more a G or PG fan myself when it comes to art on here.
Anthro anatomy could go either way though, it's all up to the artist or the person commissioning that artist.
I never could decide how to draw anthro-avians. I've done wings with humanoid arms, and wing-arms, never tried wings and talon arms, but I think I like that style if you don't want wing-arms. I think I still prefer wing-arms overall though
Either way nice work.

Oh yeah, there are SO MANY details to think about other than JUST the overall construction/shape of them, like how the leading edges are feathered and how the feathers interlock N etc etc etc.. how they are layered and all the bubbabaloo. And of course, how they taste plucked, fried , and slathered with bbq sauce. ;) oh.. wait.. sorry! I forgot the beer! 8)

Blue Jays rock, love their colors. I'm a sucker for hand-talons, too. :)
It's interesting that you take a comparatively accurate approach to anthro birds in terms of anatomy in pieces like this, which can make it comparatively difficult to read their expressions; mammalian cues don't help.

Very astute observations, dear coon. You're right, this bird is 'truly' bird and there are no cartoonish features about him. I wanted accuracy in color and in expression.
Much has to be said for Moth Wingthane's desires too. He told me what he wanted and I could have gone either way and made a very cute, friendly cartoon blue jay; but he opted for this more realistic version (because I can do realism in birds quite well).
I was really pleased he asked me to do this for him because it gave me an excuse to play with my talents a bit and color a "realistic" looking avatar for him. I love anthro and cartoon works, but this is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity for me to draw something I "want" to draw and color and give Moth what he wants: a realistic birdmorph for his pleasure.
