Descent of the sockmonkey from its primitive knitted Tam O'Shanter origins? Sweet moment.
The kid's face looks somewhat ethereal and pallid. Hope he's OK. Great study on the ape's expressions too, though he seems to be making heavy and grab-fisty work of moving what must for him to be a very light blanket over the kid. Then again, I'm no expert at how non-humans use their hands, so maybe you're right :/

Gorillas can actually be very gentle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdACUfI6nA0 It's amazing to watch. The kid is actually not entirely human, but I tried to tone down obvious weirdness because this was for someone else.
fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
i still say you should give it an honest effort even if failure is inevitable
if anything more as a gesture of respect and admiration to the deceased than to get published alongside it
sort of like leaving flowers on a grave, but more sincere

God, this is one awesome piece of art, I love the details and the realistic look, the deep shadows that emphasize the late hour. I love how the three faces - gorilla, boy and doll seem to be more clear and are focus points leading down the eye from one to the next. Like a staircase for the gaze. Bloody brilliant!
Okay, while I think this is amazing, I honestly do think this is an extremely well rendered piece...
I feel really alone in finding this pants pissingly terrifying.
I hope it isn't offensive that I say that, as it doesn't detract from the image in the least, but good goddamn it's creepy.

No, I haven't, but I just looked it up and now I want to! Damn, haha. I willingly feed myself nightmare fuel... sigh.
How about this lovely number? : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieJDrBkNhMI haha

I don't know. All I can think is like... WHY WOULD ANYONE E VER GIVE THAT TO A CHILD?
but then I also hated kewpie dolls as a kid, too...
OH and I remembered, I think my original impression was slightly askew because I misread the title as "imaginary fiend"! Which would really change the concept presented here, lol...

I was freaked out by cabbage patch kids because I saw a one of those Weekly World News rags with a cover picture of one "possessed by the devil". I didn't *really* beleive in that sort of thing, but I didn't like going upstairs if my sister's bedroom door was open and I could see one of her dolls from the bottom of the staircase.
Lord only knows . . . I always liked plain old stuffed animals, hot wheels cars and those little packs of plastic dinosaurs you could get for a buck at the grocery store. Actually, I STILL have a bunch of stuffed animals, there's a model car sitting on my desk, and I have the occasional urge to buy a pack of plastic dinosaurs
