When I made Phoenix I never expected so few people in the fandom to know what a grey fox is :)

grey foxes re not just redfoxes with grey color. they are an own fox species and they are not just grey ;)
And they are actually the original american fox. They lived in america long before the red ones came from Europe ;)

I had to say this more times than I could count in a Wildlife ID class of all places. It really got "interesting" when Cross foxes were added to the mix.

o.o corss foxes are juts a color variation to the redfox - not an own species. and not a fix from grey and red fox

Oh, I know lol. They couldn't understand that it was a color variation, while grey was a separate fox completely. They wanted to argue that it was all the same thing, or all different.

I know what they are.
Grey foxes are all over Northern California where I grew up.

Those and coyotes are everywhere up there.

Another little known fact: Grey Foxes can also climb trees and red foxes cannot.

That is actually not true. I saw red foxes on trees so they can climb. Just not as good as grey ones

Oh yes I did ^^ and they had "adoptions" ( = you pay a tiny fee to help them with the food for the animals) I also got one of these for a greyfox lady ^^
