A couple who are friend's of my mom always give me rides to the airport in Atlanta to go to California when I need it without ever asking for anything in return, so I felt I would repay them by doing a picture of their lovely dog... They've been wanting one of her for awhile and wanted to commission me for it, but I told them I would do it as a gift for their generous help... So awhile back they took some photographs of her for me to work from, but I've been so busy with everything else that I was just able to set down to color it these past two days...
Her name is Candy and she's a beautiful Irish Setter... She's still quite young and spoiled, but her coat is just so soft and she's very playful... I had a hard time coloring this because I didn't have the right colors and had to improvise (her fur has various reds, golds, and browns that aren't in my poor cheap Crayolas)... My drawing does not do her justice at all, but I hope it's still enjoyed... I'm very proud of how it came out, I spent a lot of time and worked hard on it... As for the two-toned background, I never could decide what color I wanted to use, so I just split it up and just blended a few shades of blue and green... As for her collar she actually does have one like that, it's all sorts of colors but not quite so vivid...
Like what you see? I'd love to do more portraits like this of people's pets... If you're interested or know someone who would be, please feel free to send me a note and I'll gladly sit down and work out a deal with you...
