The thing I like about this picture is that I'm just drawn to the hands and feet.
It's kinda refreshing to see humanoid limbs and I think the gloved fur effect on those limbs really emphasizes the pose, which in and of itself is very emotive.
The pose, the somber expression..
Every time I look back at the image, the main thing I'm always struck by is your anatomy.
The knee, the right arm's musculature and the collarbone that sticks up from his skin.
This is fairly clearly not a furry whose fur rounds out his proportions.
It feels like a contemplative moment.

Nitpick: It's a little weird the shotgun doesn't have a sling. On an actual sling, it would hang that high. Longarms weigh around 6+lbs, so tend to hang as low as their rigging will allow. Sling mounts for shotguns are typically either on the butt, or further up near the grip on the rear end. The same applies to rifles. Weapons with rifle style grips, as opposed to pistol grips, would typically have their rear sling mount near the butt end of the gun. Since its clearly not the center of attention, this actually might help to push it out of the scene a bit, so it being mono-color is a bit less jarring. It feels a bit like a background detail that crept into the foreground. That said, the silhouette is perfect.
NOW THE SNOW! That is satisfying. The rabbit's form is also impressively done.

Guns and weapons have, to me, always represented power in a base form. I think that's why Toxic Masculinity is attracted to them. How you use a gun in art is a statement about power, and potentially the use of power. You can reenforce classical power hierarchies, or challenge them. It can be a symbol of abuse of power, or caution with it.
I think the cliche "with great power comes great responsibility" applies here.
Personally, the gun means to me a symbol of power that can be used to protect myself and others from those who would abuse their power. It also represents to me the power to change and upend traditional hierarchies.
That said, it makes a poor throwaway prop.
