Depends on the time of year, really. It's been a while, but from what I remember I was there for the Spring semester and in the beginning it was pretty chilly for me (given that I live in the south though a lot is chilly for me; my New Yorker roommate was perfectly fine =P). It even snowed lightly a few times, though not enough to stick. Around the summer it started getting warmer, but nothing too bad (again, I have experience with really hot summers in the south, so that's personal bias I suppose).

Also, I highly recommend you go! Japan is a really, really awesome place, and if you like my pics you'd probably love it =P. My greatest recommendation is that you visit Miyajima. It's perhaps the most beautiful place I've seen in my life up to this point =D
