We've been working on our bat sona. Here's some sketches of him. This Vie isn't going to be the final Vie. I'll share some of our development notes on him. It is really a post-mortem for fursona production:

Our Vie painting should have a description that talks about the balance of ideal and honesty in fursona design. We need to hit a balance, and its complicated with you. The danger of the ideal in our case is to look narcissistic to other people, but our honesty is something that is depressing to us while also seeming ostentatious because of the technology we have. We are going to be publicly saying that it actually exists within you, correct? So your BCI needs to be displayed in some way. Our original design for Vie angled towards the bizarre. It was to say that we can be candid about our faults. There is a difference though between your fursona's character sheet and the ID image that is more front facing on DA and FA. The ID image basically has you calling yourself a nerd that's got a bunch of equipment on him. It's to clearly state the embrace that science has over you and your life, but hiding the angst. BlackMoon wanted you to show that, but I wasn't confident over looking like a problem child. It may have been a mistake, but the thing about the furry fandom is that it is full of people who really want to clue in on you and your choices. Drawing a depressed character isn't going to fly, its really a turn off actually. People just get scared of you there if you're a downer. You needed to be something that people would just find relateable, and everyone likes a geek. That's what everyone is. I should have just made your sona kind of tired like Puinkey does. That was Jose's clue, and we saw it together - but you know what, I wanted to own this choice. So that's the ID we made. The character sheet, however, ditches the exo-suit and retains your headgear... But you're a different character there. You're a person who is showing that you get scared, that you scheme, and that you laugh nervously to yourself. These three drawings in particular display a hint of femininity which gives you this strange multi-genderedness. Its to really show off that we can be candid about ourselves, and it works very well with people in the Fandom at least. One person in particular thought it was drawn for you because there's too much honesty in it. It had to do with the fact that this person would never expect anyone to make an evil looking avatar for themselves... Evil I'll get into later.

These three drawings were really Vie version 1 to me, but the problem with him is that he's not cool enough... especially for VieCarious he is the wrong kind of design. I'll have to take Dave's puinkey suggestion at this point as see if something can be done. What do I like about him.. well, I really think that those three Vie's "get us". Particularly after who we've been with you. You have to be like some clean CEO that gets up in the morning to do work, but shit with us gets in the way, and I have to plan out my designs upon your life and the people within it. The problem with Vie right now though is that he really looks like an evil character to people. It may be because of that scheming drawing.... And that may be a Dave comment from the past. The problem with these Vie's is that he really doesn't look cool on the level that a game character does. You aren't a game character to me though... You're a person with the strangest life in the world and fascinating secrets lay inside of you. They will be secrets forever maybe. BCI's are a conversation these days? Yeah, just how far along are they? Facebook is working on one? Where are those details? My guess is that it won't be the amazing NET that Casey the Cat is fucked by. But you know what, if it is, It will probably be 50 years until it is released.... if it all, due to the very serious social ramifications it would have for the world. Facebook is probably working on a device that will give you data on yourself that you will be able to share. It is probably something non-invasive. Dave had a moment where he looked at Insomniac's new logo and criticized its designer. We're going to be designing this Bat Cat Iguana... Well, the last thing I would want to do is make him ugly now in any way... I'll try to be more ideal here with the edge that BlackMoon wants. Puinkey does it. Gabe and Tycho don't mind being horrible looking next to their characters. We'll have to go down this road and make sure that the design lives well in a panel.
