Severe weather season started with a bang here in southern Indiana. Tornadoes reported across the area, with quite a bit of property damage.

(takes a breath)
BOOOOOOMMMM!
Out here in Far West Texas, we have too many interfering mountain-ranges to allow true funnels to grow (at least that's the old story around here). We do get tremendous winds that indeed cause property damage, mostly roofs of older homes getting torn off nowadays. (had a big, loud windstorm just this past Saturday), and have had a few brown-outs.
And of course, my hometown made global news with the Flood of 2006.

All the rain was absorbing outside noise. The tornado ended up passing about half a mile north of our position. NWS rated it EF3. It did substantial damage around Fayetteville, about 4 or 5 miles west of Bedford. Had it not been shrouded in rain, we would have seen it clearly from where we were.
Love storms like that. Unfortunately, Minneapolis has managed to avoid really bad storms lately. The suburbs have been slammed pretty bad the last few summers, but the two inner cites of Minneapolis and Saint Paul have been spared. I hope this spring and summer will be different. I love the bit blasts of thunder that rock the building. :D Lightning, especially when it's dramatic like this, is always fun and exhilarating to watch.
