A Mandalorian-raised Selonian, Rriyan A'Kiif, (better known to her clan as Ryan O'Keefe, and known best in underworld circles as the rising star bounty hunter "Rook") spent years training as a hunter, becoming a prodigy within her own clan. After secretly becoming addicted to Andris spice, however, she stole her father's ship to make her own way, though she has not forgotten the ways of the Mando'ade. Loyal to her people, she wears red to honor her adoptive father (and clan leader), and black to represent justice, taking down dangerous criminals and killers to honor their ways.

She was hired by Syrra's mother, Matriarch Bast, to eliminate the Padawan's fiancee, Kajex. When the attempt failed and Rook realized Bast had deceived her into nearly murdering an innocent Jedi, she dropped her contract and allowed herself to be hired by Syrra, as Kaj's bodyguard, in return for double the original fee and help in getting her father's ship back from a Sith Infiltrator.

Although her relationship with Kajex is cordial at best, she quickly got along with the Gold Rush's only other non-sensitive member, Talrik Lye, an Amaran ex-stormtrooper now working as an Antarian Ranger. The relationship, while physical, is genuine, as she deeply respects his drive and integrity.

Rook is a highly-trained Mandalorian- despite her relatively young age she has made a name for herself taking down known criminals, utilizing a blaster pistol, creative tactics, her natural speed and agility, and her Selonian war glaive; this melee weapon is laced with lightsaber-resistant beskar (known to many as 'Mandalorian Iron'), and it is her weapon of choice in most situations, able to match even trained Sith in combat. Despite lacking most Mandalorian equipment (such as the traditional helmet, jetpack and hidden toys), her quick thinking and creative approaches are usually enough to stay on par with others.
