As far as the crown, i started seeing these ethereal hovering crowns pop up and i assumed it was a video game / anime thing? I could be mistaken. :S

It's definitely in pop culture often nowadays, but I haven't seen it in videogames or anime so much as illustration. It's a cute li'l visual shorthand, but it's close to going out of style. I think of it as a less-offensive version of the painted word-bubble with an icon in it.
