I got this crazy image in my head of a clockwork hydra that was composed of severed heads and had to draw it. I think part of it is thanks to the wayback footage of that dog head being kept alive briefly.
ANYWHO. This Hydra's creator is apparently some sort of technological evil genius, because this particular monster was designed to work by controlling the severed heads at the ends of its "necks". Although their brains are somehow being kept alive (lol comic book science), they cannot act upon anything but what the machine wants them to do. Do they remember their loved ones? Their lives? Perhaps, and that's what makes it all the more chilling. The question is whether or not the individuals can actually be salvaged somehow, or if it's better just to put the entire beast out of its misery.
I might do more with this concept, I dunno. Do you like?

Well... it does make remember a old (I mean old) comic called Strykeforce:Morituri, where aliens abduct humans and use their heads as controllers of mechanical soldiers while the head is still alive and cannot control the contraption. The so called good guys have to destroy the mechanical soldiers , destroying also the living head. Oh, and the so called good guys, have to be transformed by the Morituri process , that gives them powers against the aliens but six months to live before kaploey. Literally.
Ooh, I do like. What a cool idea. *is totally peeved she didn't think of it* XD
If it was possible to detach the heads and re-wire them into their own mechanical bodies... One might wonder how many would choose that, and who would turn the option down in favor of the "put me out of misery" one.
