Hey mannerisms 2! ok so this is the same shtick as the first one just with types font text as i feel that is much easier to read so here lets get into some specifics on the manners
As stated above, smelling a dish while the chef or cook is preparing it is rude because it's seen as being impatient, it's like saying "HEY I CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER I GOTTA SMELL THAT FOOD MAN!" so uh yeah anyone cooking tends to not like being rushed on the food.
holding your hands up or down is a statement that either shows respect akin to bowing, shaking someones hand, etc. It is also a handy statement that basically means you're giving a person space to talk without being interrupted, so if you hold your hands together near your neck or legs, it's also a good idea to not speak or interrupt whoever you just did the gesture to as it is basically breaking a promise.
Sun basking usually happens after meals, the only things preventing it are if it is so hot that you would likely overheat or so cold that you would freeze if you stepped too far away from the fire you're probably next too. That said sun basking is still perfectly safe to do most of the year and relaxing. Many villages have large basking rocks where the residents of said village can hang out, relax, and hold conversations while warming up under the sun.
One would think eating soup the wrong way wouldn't be such a big deal to some sogaluns, but soup was one of the first ways they actually cooked things and the manner of drinking the broth first and then the solid food goes back a long ways. Besides, there are no meals that are eaten with any sort of silverware or in this case, woodware, I should of mentioned this instead actually hehe, you do not eat with any sort of tool in sogalun culture, the reasoning is that you have a neck and two hands so you should be able to make it work.
And lastly when you receive a gift from a fellow sogalun you are supposed to use/wear/eat/etc. that gift. If it something you wear or a tool you use then you should use or wear it for at least a few days afterwards. While if you absolutely hate the gift and tell the giver that they usually wont make you wear it or anything, however it is respectful if you choose to wear or use the gift whether you like it or not.
Anyways so thats that!
Venny out!
