HALF OF SUNNYVALE --- CLOSED FOR THE WINTER MONTHS
THIS IS A PHOTO SNAPPED OF A PART OF SUNNYVALE TRAILER PARK ... ALL CLOSED THE FUCK UP FOR THE WINTER MONTHS.. WE BOARDED UP ALL THE WINDOWS THERE SO THAT NO SQUIRREL AND CHIPMUNK COCKSUCKERS MADE THEIR NESTS IN SOME RANDOM FOLKS' TRAILERS...
OOC note: "The Trailers are simply shells, so to speak. If one were to enter the trailers they would literally fall through the floors.. Mike Clattenburg bought these old rotten, used trailers and had them moved to his set for Sunnyvale Trailer Park on Bisset Rd - in Cole Harbor, Nova Scotia. The exterior shots are filmed here - and interior shots are filmed elsewhere."

Yeah.. I'm guessing it was done for financial reasons - saving a bunch of money.. I'm pretty sure he got the trailers for the Sunnyvale set for next to nothing.. of course - he chose to do this after being kicked out of several ACTUAL Trailer parks in the Halifax/ Nova Scotia area while filming the first couple of seasons of the series.
Trailer Park residents were complaining the cast and crew were too loud and so on and so forth - so he chose to make his own small Trailer Park set on Bisset rd in Cole Harbor, Nova Scotia.. that way he wouldn't have to deal with any issues such as that.

Makes sense to me, as I can imagine just how loud tv production must be. There's a school where I used to live that always had a film crew shooting a tv show, tv movie, big budget movie, ect. and even without having to go INSIDE the school, the lot was full of the hum and noise of generators, other vehicles and what have you.
Precisely - and add to that the fact that during the first few seasons they filmed quite a few night time shots in the Trailer Park.. hard for some younger kids who lived in the parks to get to sleep what with all the excitement of the series --- which at that time, keep in mind - was not well known.
My cousin was an extra in a few seasons of Trailer Park Boys and for her it was just something for money.. she never thought it would catch on and be as much a cult-hit as it has become - in her mind it would turn out to be another show that would "never catch on".. god, how wrong she was.

"never catch on".
Christ.
I said the same thing about Pokemon when it first hit Canadian shores. Thank God I hadn't put money on that bet!
The bright lights are something of a necessity in filming, so I guess there's not a lot to be done about that. I wonder how many people complained about the GUNFIRE or Ricky's '76 Ford Shitheap tooling around the park. XD

The Shitmobile - to the best of my knowledge isn't driveable.. I'm pretty sure that car was used a not with a winch and pulley.. they had more than one Shitmobile.. and one of them is used to enter car shows across Canada now believe it or not..
Hard to believe that a rusted down crap car is now one of the most talked about vehicles in Canadian culture..
"Move over Batmobile! Screw off KITT, Piss off ECTO-1.. the Shitmobile is here to stay!" LOL

I never actually saw a car show in which the Shitmobile was present - I just heard about them - generally the most often places I've heard of the Shitmobile being at a Car Show are in Toronto and also in Halifax... naturally.
Aside from that - haven't heard too much..
A couple of fans got their photo taken near the Shitmobile when they found it parked at a shopping center which the boys were filming in.
