You're look looking at it wrong. No-one cares about the moon so long as it just sits up there orbiting, but if you control the moon you control the tides, and that's a fair amount of power to wield. Let's see what the other deities say when their followers' coastal towns are getting dipped twice a day. Turn up the gravitational influence a little more and your moon goddess can unleash earthquakes too, though aiming might be a bit tricky. Plus there's all the fun you can have just by reworking the surface of the moon to depict messages. You could even polish it to a mirror array and use it as a giant solar concentrator, bringing perpetual day to boost farms and provide military assistance.

I don't know, there's a lot of perks with that job. :)
