A strenuous three hour hike from the Mt. Norquay parking lot will bring you around to the backside of the summit of Mt. Cascade and into a place known as the amphitheater. In this upturned bowl you can see plenty of pika’s and ground squirrels that call this alpine meadow home.

On this particular day I had thunderstorms approaching from the north and I couldn’t stay up here for too long. Thankfully I made it back to the car as the worst was coming down. I did see some other scramblers a further three hours up on the summit of the mountain (centre of the picture) and I wondered if they made it down alright.
