Other Powers: Ruby has super-strength and is able to lift incredibly heavy objects and he has complete control over it.

He is also an exquisite swordsman, able to fight and win with any sword in his grasp. Ruby also has precise and accurate motion of his sword as he is able to cut objects around other Gems without touching a single hair on their head.

Ruby can hold shape-shifted forms for long periods of time but it means that when he regenerates, he cannot shape-shift at all for a few hours.


Personality: Ruby is quite an honourable and devoted Gem and is always willing to help other Gems in need or when they want help with a task.

Ruby can, occasionally, be a little bit too over protective towards others, particularly when it comes to Sapphire as he treats her like a younger sibling, even though she is capable of doing things for herself.

Ruby speaks with a Spanish accent and can speak fluent Spanish and French.

He is the most honest and trustworthy Gem in the team and knows how to express the truth but Ruby is not absolutely honest….



I thought long on how I wanted Ruby to look like and decide to go with a different design and make him more noble looking, seeing that rubies are known for nobility. I based my design for Ruby on Prince Hans from Disney Frozen. (no he is not evil)

I’m happy about where I have placed Ruby’s gem because unlike before, it was a lot easier to choose where it should go and I had three choices. either the right hand, the left hand or over the heart area.

There is a reason why I wanted to make Ruby a male Gem instead of a female Gem as like in “Steven Universe” but I want to keep it a secret and reveal that secret much later
