Perfectly nitpicky, you're right. HOWEVER: the entire point of the teleportation device was that it wasn't be 100% functional. Batman couldn't kill it while it was "alive," because otherwise its brain would go off like the bomb that it was meant to be. So he had to move it to an area where Veidt would not be able to retrieve it, which would mean teleporitng the thing anyway.
