This certainly looks pretty.

The corkscrew in the center is screaming "fractal" to me. Might it be one, by chance?

Indeed it is... Fractals are pretty much the only digital art I have skill with... I also used to do some assembly stuff, but I never mastered it beyond simple (3D-simple, that is) shapes.
