Views like this were possible when we still had Grandpa's farm. It was one of the biggest bummers about losing it. Can't see much for nebulae in St. Paul.

I feel ya, my family used to have a cabin tucked back in the forest near Mount Laguna in CA, but it burnt down in the Cedar Fire... The stars used to be pretty great out there.
I don't think I can ever go back to living under anything brighter than a rural sky now that I live at the edge of the Weminuche Wilderness, it's absolutely incredible to be able to fall asleep looking out the window at Double Cluster and Andromeda.

Great shot, really excellent. I'm in Banff and unfortunately the clouds ruled the sky and I couldn't get off a clear photo. But tonight it should be clear so I'm going back to attempt #2.

Thanks, and good luck! I heard it was cloudy in most dark places across the continent last night, we were lucky here in the western US to be under a very dry sky.
