"So...a Froggit, Washua, and a skeleton walk into a bar...only to be murdered by a deranged and emotionless child. Then one day, years later, that skeleton's brother hunts the child down and tears it limb from limb."
"...what? I never said it was a funny joke."
Okay, so I've been playing a lot of Undertale recently, and reading a lot of fan material based on the game and its characters. I find Sans the Skeleton to be the most interesting, namely due to his carefully cultivated humorous personality, and his incredible supernatural abilities. Despite being one of the most important and powerful monsters in the Underground, there's surprisingly few concrete details about him or his brother Papyrus, a significant amount of ambiguity surrounds them and their history. So, I decided to try my hand at a bit of fan art, the basic idea being that this is Sans a few years after the events of Undertale. After Papyrus' murder, Sans slipped into a very reclusive and isolated state, ruminating on his grief and the true nature of his soul. One day, on a long jaunt through the woods, he encounters Frisk trying to collect firewood. Sans, embittered and hardened by his loss, decides to confront the human and frighten or possibly kill them. Of course, he opens up with a joke.
Anyway, enough with my trite fan fiction, I hope people enjoy this rendition of a very popular character. Oh, bonus points if you can guess what his shirt says underneath his jacket. :3
Done with micron pen, charcoal, and pastel.

Careful kid, it's real cold out here. If you don't cover up, you might freeze to death.
Such a blend of artistic formats!
Something about the lines to imply his tiredness is another nice touch!
That shirt beneath still eludes me...but aside from the mystery it still evokes the essence of the imposing spooky skele. Well done!
