D: Oh dear.
With mohawks (as with any type of hairstyle on fursuits) just use hair. There's lots of poofy fur, extra long pile fur, or even high quality wigs you can use to pull off just about anything you need to do in the hair department. Don't be afraid to ask around to see how other suit makers do long hair, where they get their materials, or reference others' work to see how they pull it off. It can be done. Foam is a huge ''no no''. The rest of this head is great, the proportions and the flow of the fur is beautiful, but he/she looks like she has a tumorous volcano erupting on their head.

I asked her to use foam and fur, so relax with your huge 'no no's' I think it came out fine for what she was given, and the deadline was for this fwa so it came up so late that we didn't have time or money to order some sort of wig. And for your information, love, it's her fur that's gelled up into the fauxhawk. This went as well as it could have gone for how late it was started. Thanks anyways though.
Another thing- I gave her my LJ to ask questions about this, so apparently foam isn't all that big of a faux pas in the community.

It wasn't a personal attack, I was merely offering advice as to what I saw as a fairly significant design flaw. :S You can say that it was rushed, and there wasn't any money to do it any other way, ect. and that all's fine, but it's still an area that that came out more than a bit wonky.
FA isn't just the place for pats on the back and having random people spam your page telling you good job, it's wonderful, it's perfect. The great thing about this community is that your work is exposed to a variety of eyes, and occasionally somebody will provide some honest critique that can help you to improve down the line. Nobody's perfect, there's always room to excel.
We've all had pieces where it's kinda like, ''yeah, it was really rushed and I didn't really have anything else, so it came out like this...'' But there's no need to jump on the defense about it. You should learn to take criticism of your work much more positively, and a lot less personally. n.n

I'm pretty sure honest, creative criticism doesn't consist of you saying someones work looks like "volcano tumors growing from it's head"
If you plan on critiquing someones work do it in a way that doesn't make you sound like an elitist prick is all I'm saying. Don't be rude! It's fully acceptable to say "this is nice, this needs work" but I believe you can refrain yourself from making comments like that.
She's earning her commissions because ages good with what she has and what she works with. And also- you might have missed the fact the piece is still a wip and not a finished product. Just learn discretion and you won't have to worry about defending your own criticisms. Learn some humility before assuming someone will take your comments in stride. Not everyone I've ever heard criticism from has to be as.. Obligated as you are to make sure the work is described in the most pessimistic way as possible. For later- don't use your "no no" use "try this instead" no need to cut down their work.
