Monster hunter harvesting logic.
Apparently Kelbis are too pure to kill, however, you can take their pelt and slabs of meat off of them??? And then they just prance away like you threw a pebble at them?
Also, my boyfriend has just been introduced to Monster Hunter via the newest release, Generations. We're trying to figure out their logic they were going for with harvesting monster parts. Like, if you break a part off a monster, wouldn't you be LESS likely to get that piece since it got detached and lost in the fight?? As compared to taking on the challenge of not breaking body parts and then just taking whatever tefuq you want off the goddamn thing after its dead. Cuz you know. Logic.
Since they go for a certain element of realism in this game with the weight of weapons, needing to eat and drink, sharpen your weapon, stutter and stumble when something stomps next to you, ya think they would've gone the whole nine yards.
Also I hate that you can just get knocked into a new area when I monster hits you. And that you need to pose after everything you do
My health is low!
I should drink a health potion!
-drinks potion-
-monster turns towards you to fuq u up-
Oh no a monster is gonna trample me!
-poses-
-loses health you just gained-

Its just so annoying. I understand the need for a cooldown so people don't just spam potions but it's too long and just a silly way to display it. I make my strategy to dodge around until the monster goes after my palico, then as soon as they run towards it, I start drinking the potion. If the monster can run to my palico, attack it, take its awkward clunky turns, then charge me, in the time it takes me to be REALLY PROUD that I just drank a thing then it's too long :<
Do they? I don't have a problem with it. If they just made it take longer to drink the potion but didn't do a silly pose, would you be happy then? Because if by default it was faster, it would be somewhat OP in my opinion. It's designed so that you need to use items in proper openings, not whenever the heck ya feel like it.
I feel like it takes too long imo. The fact that a monster can turn to target another entity (usually my cats), attack them, hip check, and bolt to tear my face off in the time it take me to drink one potion is little ridiculous. I understand cooldown, but it should at LEAST be fast enough for me to drink and be able to move again if I do so at the beginning of the monsters aggro shifting to another target.
If the monster is moving that fast, then it is likely enraged (usually signified at the start by a roar, followed by a visible breath effect for it's duration). They are extra fast/strong and dangerous at this point compared to normal and often have access to a new move or string of moves (such as triple charges that'll probably get you taken out if you try to heal in the middle of). If a monster is enraged and you're not confident, it may be best to transition areas to heal for the time being.
Well for the liver maybe you just take part of it? Since you don't need a whole thing to survive?? But I mean, I doubt a professional monster killer is gonna suture the wound they make from carving organs and slabs of meat off.
Yeah it's slightly enfuriating, especially when I secure it so I have plenty of time to drink a potion and it would've been fine for the drinking animation and like 1 second of the "I drank a thing!" pose

Unfortunately lot's of people have been complaining about these problems. But at this point it's tradition for capcom to leave things as they are.
Supposedly the hunter only hunts the monsters, The monsters are sent off to professionals to process the bodies. You just manage scrape some parts before they arrive.
What's your favorite weapon so far?

Tradition is nice but not if it's a legitimate hindrance. Like they could do the cheer thing but allow you to dodge or move out of it.
Then couldn't you request that the professionals provide specific parts you need? Or choose the parts as you carve?
Like if I was the hunter, and I was farming for say...gore magala feelers, I would just kill it, chip at both feelers with a carving knife, boom. It'd make a bit more sense if it presented a menu to take specific parts and you could only take a certain amount so that the quest givers could profit from the hunter creature as well.
Hmmmmm aesthetically probably Smoldering Cities but I use the dual blades made from segregios most.

It's just a fan theory really. Hunters should know how to carve body parts, but to obtain the poison sac of a gypceros without harming themselves or the item must take some more skill than a hunter has.
I specialize in hunting horns and switch axes. I just love the mizutsune gear. It's a bubbly fox leviathan!
Along with the cheese weapons and cat fursuit.
I shall play a song of affinity up for you on my horn if I ever join your hunt.

I know I saw the description but it doesnt look at all like it came from mizutsune. It was like super rainbowy flowy dragon with floral looking fins and bubbles and purple fur and the outfits like:
Wedding?
No flowers? (weapons have them tho)
Solid white and red/pink?
No fins?
Disappooooiiint

I just wonder how you can attack a Zinogre and while it's writhing on the ground you can harvest parts of it, before walking off and letting it attack say a Rathalos or something! Also that pose is just awful too! I haaaaaaaaate it! But as for this specific creature, I'm astounded it can just get up and walk away like that. I mean is there a hospital for them or like an exchange program for new livers. I mean seriously, I'm so confused!
