That species also makes an appearance in the movie Castle in the Sky. They appear when they finally get to Laputa and enter the garden with the last robot. They run around on the robot's shoulders until they all lay in a pile on each other on one of his shoulders. xD I have never seen Nausicaa, but I recognized them in CinS (saw the movie after you had made this).
