HEAD
The following questions ask you to explain how satisfied you are with each feature of the head of the costume. If you are reviewing only a set of ears, your answers would also go in this section.Wear Satisfaction
Please describe how it is to wear this piece of your costume.
It's comfortable to wear, not too squishy. Ventilation is terrible, I could barely breathe with 10 mins wear, it wasn't carved enough inside. Had to adjust the strap, since the head fit really loose when first wore it.
Visibility is fine, overall. Can see most of my front, but can't really see above.
Appearance Satisfaction
Please describe how satisfied you are with how your costume piece looks from the outside.
There's no shaving work done whatsoever. Fur is soft and all, but on the green patches, you can see the white fabric in some areas. I had to chop off many glue excess from the nose, lower jaw and eyes.
The green mohawk is just bunches of fur scraps placed on top of each other; I have to brush it on certain ways so the white patches don't show below the fabric.
The neck is really long, not made to shape, more like if Ink showed a double chin. I have to wear a bandana for it to look nice. Ink originally has some darker dots on his nose, and they look like she painted them with acrylic. The area where it's painted looks and feel really stiff.
The "green fur" was supposed to be some minty colored, which she had found, but agreed to change it to green, since the mint one's shipping would take longer.
The head was supposed to have "stud earrings" on both ears, but one of the ears has a hole on the back area, with visible foam, and the other had nothing at all. This suit arrived with no earrings at all.
Special Attachments and Features
Please describe how satisfied you are with any extra features your head has.
The type of material that was used on the "hog fangs" is nothing but what you use on casts. It's really lumpy and irregular. Sounds like they're fragile when tapped with the nails.
HANDS AND FEET
The following questions ask you to explain how satisfied you are with each feature of the hands and feet of the costume.Wear Satisfaction
Please describe how it is to wear these pieces of your costume.
Lowest quality paws. I originally had requested "poofy paws" for this suit, but due to the maker's time schedule, she sent me a pair of "temporary paws" (seen in the picture). These are the lowest quality paws I've seen. I don't really know which one's the right or left paw, not to mention they come off really easily. There's no lining work on them, just two pieces sewn together and that's it.
Appearance Satisfaction
Please describe how satisfied you are with how your costume pieces look from the outside.
The hands are the most terrible thing out of them all. Fur goes opposite ways when met on the tip of the fingers, again, no shaving work done. Paw pads are fleece, with acrylic darker dots. They really look horrible, fur doesn't seem to have any sense of direction, and fit really loose.
TAILS
The following questions ask you to explain how satisfied you are with each feature of the tail(s) of the costume.Wear Satisfaction
Please describe how it is to wear these pieces of your costume.
It's bouncy and small, like requested. One of the straps slightly detached when I first shook my bum with it. The shape's fine, just like requested.
Appearance Satisfaction
Please describe how satisfied you are with how your costume pieces look from the outside.
Again, green fur has visible white patches under the fabric, it's not symmetric at all, and AGAIN, no shave work done whatsoever. You can easily see where the patterns were attached, and I have to brush it in a certain way for the seams and patches to be unnoticed.
OVERALL VISUAL SATISFACTION
The following questions ask how satisfied you are with the overall visual aspects associated with the costume. How satisfied are you with how closely the suit matches the concept art?
If there was no concept art, please state N/A
The colors followed the concept closely, yet the "grayish blue" had to be changed to a green, since it was the "closest" color available.
How satisfied are you with how well everything fits together and matches up?
Do you markings match up at the seams? Are the colors consistent?
She followed the markings correctly, yet the fabric used was not the best. You can see the patches of white fabric below the fur in some areas, and also where the seams connect to the other fur piece, but can go out of sight if brushed a certain way.
MAKER INTERACTION AND COMMISSION PROCESS
The following questions ask how satisfied you are with all the aspects of communication between you and the maker. How satisfied are you with how easy it was to initially contact the maker for a quote?
It was good, she came up with a quote fast enough and in a friendly way.
How satisfied are you with the response time from the maker?
How long did it take them to respond?
Sometimes it'd be from days to weeks, but when asked about work in progress or other questions, she replied soon enough.
How satisfied are you with how the deadline was met for completion of your project?
Were any deadlines missed or was it done early?
Missed; it originally was meant to be for a convention in september, to which she agreed would be ready by then. It had to be skipped to october, because of some issues she had, and that deadline was met.
How satisfied are you with the overall quality of your project?
It's amateurish. The head's fine, as well as the tail, but the "temporary paws" are just terrible, as well as the arms. There is no shaving work done whatsoever, in no areas, and as stated before, I had to remove some pieces of glue excess from the eyes, nose and lower jaw. When I first wore it, I felt a pinch on top of my head, and later on, when I grabbed the head from the inside, another pinch was felt on my hand. There was a pin/needle still on top of the head, hidden in the mohawk.
How satisfied are you with the overall customer service and professionalism of the maker?
No professionalism at all. She sent me an unfinished head with various mistakes. I got part of what I paid for, but the rest was clearly unfinished. She offered me to send it back, and she'd pay for shipping, so she could fix those things. But to begin with, why would you send an unfinished head in the first place? The temporary paws were terrible, and I only got 1 WIP pic of one of the "poofy" paws, and it wasn't the paw, it was a glove with balls of foam on the fingers. Those paws were never sent, as well as the stud earrings. It's incomplete, and still missing those paws, and the current ones have no claws.
Describe your experience. What were the pros and cons of working with this maker? And any final comments?
She was friendly most of the time, and replied soon enough. But what really pissed me off was: the initial deadline wasn't met. We had to change the colors for the fursuit to be done. There's no shaving work done, and the stitch work (connecting patterns) is really terrible. The mohawk has a good shape, but it must be brushed in a certain way for the white patch below the fur to be hidden, otherwise, you can see every patch of fur that was attached to make the mohawk. She sent an unfinished work, she charged me extra for those stud earrings, and there were not attached to the furhead not sent in the box. I pinched my head and hand with a pin that she forgot to take out. The original paws were never made nor sent. She used acrylic paint on the "dots" of his nose and pawpads.
I decided to sell the fursuit, for a bigger price since I'm selling the suit, character and the art that comes with him, as I can't take him with me, I'll be moving out of my country next year, and he's just sitting there gathering dust. The maker decided to make a post on facebook, complaining about how I "quadrupled" the price of it, and even whined about the fact I offered a refurb (from a well known local maker) for it. That was highly unprofessional, due to her sending me an unfinished suit, with LOTS of mistakes and missing things, did no shaving work on it, and deadlines weren't met. When I replied to one of her friend's comments, she blocked me from the post, and continued to play victim (a friend of mine kept sending screenshots of the post's comments), saying that I "stole" her work and sold it for a higher price. She got her money, and yet I got an unfinished fursuit. Who's stealing who?
I paid a low quantity for it, my first suit cost 4,000MXN+, but it was high quality, and the maker did an excellent job. Guess you actually get what you pay for.
She got money, and it's not her property at all. I didn't offer a refurb, and the person I sold the partial to agrees with the price, since, again, I'm selling the suit, character AND art I made of him and commissioned of him. She has no right to complain nor whine about a job she never really finished.

They basically had to sell the whole character because of this. They are also offering a refurb. I would too. Sometimes stuff like this just brings painful memories and the only way to rid yourself of them is to get rid of it and make a little money back. Also the burden of moving with it. I'm sure if they loved it they would have tried to bring it with them. But they dont. So why should they.
I guess it's hard for me to grasp with having the same, unchanged fursona for 11 years but with the comment above yours explaining how the suit owner had lots of art of the character and such I can definitely see how the price was bumped up to where the seller and buyer both felt comfortable with the transaction. Glad to hear it's going to a good new home though and will be given a revamp.
Just an honest question to balance this review out: did you pay in MXN or was it converted into MXN from let's say US dollars? I am sorry to hear about the issues you had with the suit though, the pin is something I always quadruple check for since I'm nervous about leaving one behind for me commissions to find.
I had to pay in mxn, to which I sadly don't remember the "currency change" value at that time. Of course it came out cheaper in USD, but the rest of the character (adoptable and art) was all in USD. Hence the maker's reaction, I guess, cause it actually went up higher in MXN.
I think the review is correct, but there is some missing pieces that make it confusing. In defense of all parties (the OP, Fursuitreview, and the maker) here is a breakdown:
1. OP commissioned a suit and paid X amount of dollars
2. OP receives commission late and not to acceptable use
3. OP tries to work with original maker and does not succeed
4. OP resells original work with REFURBISH contract + art, so price is higher because more work/time + original price + artwork is added.
I don't see an issue with that. I think there's just some confusion on who paid x amount in what currency, which happens, and caused some confusion. Also not explained and probably not thought of is that depending on how the currency was sent their will be a conversion fee, who paid that fee is not known. Also to most people the concept of US dollar to Pesos is skewed. In the US, $400 could easily be earned in one 40hr/80hr paycheck (so one pay period based on biweekly scheduling), however in Mexico $400 could take one month or longer to earn.
Do I feel the OP overcharged for selling a refurbished suit + art, no. I think it's the correct price.

I agree with all your points. And the feedback is mostly welcome. As for the buyer (which will remain anonymus), they were notified of the initial price and agreed to the new price they were buying it for.
Dont know if the review can be edited, but I don't really remember what number was set for the currency change back then. It could've been 14-16MXN per dollar, but don't want to give fake information. As for the conversion to the new owner, we discussed the price, and I was mainly selling him for 3 reasons:
-Don't use the character anymore.
-Don't use the suit that much and can't take it with me.
-I'll be moving out of my country next year, and wanted
to find him a home as soon as possible.
The owner (who resides in the US) agreed to the terms, I've gathered all of the character's art and have included more to the folder. I even offered doing 5 more pieces to the new owner, since they'd be tweaking some things in the body's design and the character's personality. I paid for the initial price (1,200MXN), the new owner paid for the new price (400USD); they are fully aware of this review and agreed with it. I offered to lower the price on the suit, but they refused and still wanted to pay 400$ for it.

for those wondering about the price, i have an example, i live out here on chile and we use CLP an expensive fullsuit is arround 300.000 CLP that is arround no more than 400 usd, still dont get carried away with convertions sometimes they dont reflect how expensive is inside of the country it was made
While yes, there are mistakes, a few of the things are not controllable. The fur for one. If they used the commonly used Promo Shag (Also known as DF) fur, it can be brushed bald, especially in seams and color patch areas.
However, the handpaws and I think the ear direction is going the wrong way, typical of novice makers. That is a very unprofessional thing, so if those reading are new, please research your fur direction! It makes a huge difference.

Random theoretical question because I'm curious and I'm totally ignorant of how currency works, maybe someone can enlighten me.
If someone living in the US commissions someone living in Mexico for a fursuit for 1200 MXN, would they be paying JUST $60 USD due to exchange rates? Or is there some hidden thing in there that I'm not understanding?
Not criticizing OP at all, I'm just curious as to how that works out-- I'm assuming they'd have to order the fur from outside of Mexico, meaning it'd probably be $60+ in materials already, so I'm trying to figure out how that's profitable for the maker, hah.
@OP, sorry to hear about the suit issues :(

As for the OP, I don't really remember how much was the currency value exchange. I remember by the end of last year, MXN skyrocketed, reaching 18 dot something per dollar. Perhaps the dollar back then oscillated around 14-16MXN, but don't want to give out any fake info.
And this maker started her business not a while ago, so she's more of a "national" maker, doesn't really deal with international commissions. That's how she earns most of her money I suppose. She used national fur; she wanted to order mint fur (which still didn't match the suit's original colors), but it'd take longer to arrive, and wouldn't meet the deadline, so she bought green fur from a local brand. All materials were national, nothing was shipped internationally.
