Paladin derives from "Palatin", a term first used in history in association with the chamberlains of ancient roman emperors (Also famously referring to the twelve peers of charlemagne in france). In later history, paladin was a title awarded to those of high honor serving their emperor which granted them ability to act second only to their superior. During the era of Nazi Germany, Herman Goering was given the title of Paladin.
I very much doubt Herman Goering was 'lawful good'.
