If my fursona were to exist in this world, this is how he'll look like, without all those fancy gimmicky anime style that makes his eyes appear bigger. XD
A test in drawing a character in a style I'm not used to, just for fun -- In this case, the realism style. It's essentially a more close-up view of the "realism" style from this list of different styles he can be drawn in: http://zanoma.deviantart.com/art/Ma.....tyles-39434790 It also serves as a reminder that the anime style is never a literal representation of how a character looks like in reality. Just because they have huge eyes in an anime series does not mean that they also have eyes like that in reality, too. This picture was also inspired from those "realistic" renderings of Pokémon species found in deviantART and other places, which I think is pretty clever.
I used several images of animals I've Googled in order to design his face. Mostly cats, but also a few other animals like lemurs and chipmunks, who all have the facial features I wanted. His ears were modeled after seeing pictures of English lops' ears.

To be real honest, I've been pondering whether or not I should give him a bigger nose. There's a balance I need to consider: draw his face realistically, yet still keep his cute, youthful appearance everyone are familiar with. It's not that easy. It's true, I think I may have accidentally drew his nose a bit too small. x_x I guess that I was still influenced by my usual anime style while drawing this pic.
Well, his nose is already meant to be quite small, for start. (But not too unrealistically small.) Regardless, I think I'll draw his nose slightly bigger when I have the chance to draw him again in this realism style.
