Mewtwo vs Shadow the Hedgehog by Croft
Original Submission: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/20640684/
Anyone following my journals probably saw these two: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7628118/ , and http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7667858/
And then the much anticipated battle came: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4czQ1Oa-Ns
Spoiler: Mewtwo won, by pretty much a landslide, and they didn't even utilize his X Mega form.
I'd been looking forward/dreading Mewtwo finally being featured in a Death Battle pretty much since first stumbling upon the series. And the dread factor had been kinda creeping up on the scale with each Pokemon showing, since aside from the 'Battle Royale' between the starters (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcUSRT7CFPs), Pokemon don't do well in their death-matches.
And even though Shadow had been featured before, battling Vegeta, and lost, Shadow does have a legit high level of power. So going into the fight I didn't know how well Mewtwo's skill set would match up, or his level of raw strength.
If you haven't watched the fight, it was completely one-sided. Some of what I hadn't thought about came into play, and some of what I was worried about (like would they count Chaos energy as being similar to Dark-type attacks) didn't even factor in. The fight wasn't as drawn out or dramatic as some of the other 2D death-battles that have gone down (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HFVFRpoDlc), but given the sorts of abilities involved I kinda don't mind that. A big brawl between physical fighters might take a while, but characters that can just outright wipe minds in the midst of attacks kinda cuts things short.
And given that I was intensely pleased that after such a long wait to see Mewtwo in Death Battle's arena and he won handily, I commissioned Croft for a piece to celebrate the occasion.
Croft, being excellent at the bad-ass and dramatic stuff, certainly came through awesomely for it!

You might want to read the description. This is a commissioned piece, based on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4czQ1Oa-Ns
But I see you tagged me with a watch! Maybe you'll like the other stuff in my gallery.

I was kinda scared too of the outcome of this battle.
I like both Mewtwo and Shadow, but still, I really wanted Mewtwo to have a good win under his belt since he always seems to be bashed on in almost any other fanmade Death Battle.
Though still, hopefully Shadow gets a win sometime soon against someone. Hopefully third time's a charm.

Aye, but in the in-game mechanics, that totally wrecked the feel of things that fans of the fast-paced Sonic genre nailed. To use Shadow, you had to deliberately slow down a lot, and that was not what fans of Sonic wanted.
And his voice-acting was....well, pretty terrible (most of it was, but his stood out as particularly bad).

What do you mean, "you had to deliberately slow down a lot"? What games were you playing? I've played Sonic Adventure 2. Sonic Heroes, and Shadow the Hedgehog as far as playing as Shadow goes, and Shadow plays in the same fast-paced, blaze-ahead-while-smashing-enemies-and-obstacles way that Sonic does, only having to slow down in his progression when a stage hazard or navigation puzzle forced it, and that has been part of gameplay since Sonic 1. Now, particular missions could get slowly simply due the time it can take to find stuff, but that applies to any character when they have a goal other than "reach the end of the stage", and the game still encourages you to do said missions bloody fast. So unless you're maybe talking about PVP racing in SA2, I have no idea where you're coming from about having to deliberately slow down.
As for the voice acting... Yeah, it has some issues even by the cheesy standards of Sonic games. I think Jason Griffith's acting ability is severely impeded by the voice he affects when portraying Shadow, I really wish they'd rehire David Humphrey.
On a tangent, Shadow tends to be paired off against Mewtwo a lot because of their raw power and because of similarities in their backstories.. but I think he honestly has a lot more in common with Wolverine from X-Men when it comes to his story (he even has near-total amnesia of his past for a while!) and temperament.
Frankly, the Pokemon character I'd most like to see Shadow fight is Dialga, or maybe Dialga and Palkia combined (pitting their abilities against Chaos Control).
