Very interesting design. A wingless gryphon is not unheard of, its just a concept that I guess is not as "magical" as many like it to be. I think a gryphon without wings actually feels more down to earth than ones with wings from my perspective. The play on words wasn't intended, but I'm sure you get the picture ;).

...now that I think of it, nearly any animal that gets wings for whatever reason can be considered magical couldn't it? *recalls a comedians concept on a double hawk XP*

I was just looking though a book about mythical creatures... like half were some animal + wings. Snake + wings, horse + wings, lion + wings... it's kinda silly. X3

in the comic series, "Transmetropolitan" there you see mutated doves with two, sometimes three pair of wings and multiple eyes roaming the background. :)

i like this gryphon and his big fluffy butt....makes me wanna chase him and try to grab his tail feathers like we used to when i was a kid chasing the peacocks on my grandpa's farm even though we never caught them.

it was, and even though we never caught them we found loose feathers around the area and made tails out of them and played games with them :3
