the recent research i've read is that it was very likely a folk tune before that, that he transcribed.
of course no one can know for sure, henry did write some pieces, but they are so very different from greensleeves in progression and chord (where as greensleeves' style reflects the folk styles of the time to a T) that it's mostly assumed now that he didn't write it.
the pieces that we are more positive he wrote are VERY cool and have an awesome lute vibe to them!

Well....I've got to wait till about May before I do. Because I either have to save up to buy clip, mic, and recording software that isn't Audacity, or wait and get them for my birthday. Either way, it'll be a few months. >>
