Say hello to Casola. She will be a character in a comparatively long story I have laying around until I get the main character drawn. She belonds to an amphibious shark species I have come up with, the Carcharons. Sure there are a lot of walking shark creatures around but the original idea behind the Carcharons is that they are more sharks with make shift legs than humans with grey skin and a pointy head. This is displayed by their unusual "arms" which are basically pectoral fins with fingers. They can not grip very strongly and would not be steady enough for delicate tasks such as clockmaking. Instead they are perfectly suited for swimming. The pattern continues with the bent way they walk so they have their legs "bolted on to their sides" rather than having a far too thin tail at a weird angle.
There are many Carcharon subspecies based of different shark species, each with their own slightly different talents and cultures.

That seems to fit the bill for a terrestrial shark. The still well-developed fins suggest they still spend a great deal of their time in the water too. One thing that I think they would have evolved for living on land though is a more defined, thinner neck so they would be able to turn their heads more, instead of having to twist their whole torso to do so. I imagine them wearing some ornaments and maybe even tattooing their bodies to give them more of a 'tribal' look. One wonders if they shouldn't have external ears as well, given their speech. I would imagine them much like a reptile's.
Looking forward to the continuation of the story!

I have thought about all of those points and the reasons for them being as they are are
I wanted to have them capable of swallowing large prey for obvious reasons so the neck needed to stay thick.
There are so many land sharks with ears around and I want to be special + like the external mirrors on a car, external ears would be a horror in terms of drag. I imagine them to talk on low frequencies, using their side line organs to hear each other on land.
The way shark skin is covered in tiny teeth tattooing that would not work. But they could use body paint made feom whatever they happen to see fit.
Thank you for your input. Having to think about all the points you bring up helps me to flesh out this species and their culture. I might include a kind that specialises on land dwelling with ears stronger arms and shorter tails etc in the next chapter. Also I will get a drawing of Vasco as a trade at some point in the future. Maybe I will know by then what to write about next.

Very good design! The true-to-the-original shape of the origin animal makes it look like a believable swimming champion while many anthro shark characters these days look like they would have a more difficult time underwater than a regular human swimmer! I can't wait to see more about this Fischie!
