East Penn Layout 2009
Track plan for my proposed layout for the 2009 East Penn Traction Club Trolley Meet.
Basically, this is all going to be done using Lionel O-27 sectional track on Dealer's Room-type tables.
On the right are three concentric loops for running larger electric trains such as Electroliners, Amtrak Acelas and the like.
On the left, a loop to loop trolley line roughly based on the old Atlantic City and Shore trolley system.
Yes, I am a freaking lunatic.
Track planning software is RailModeller, which I highly recommend.

I'm deciding between one of the subways...carrying the Acela is asking for trouble on commuter trains. Not that sort of trouble, but bulky and prone to getting pretty-boxes-for-21-inch-high-tech-trains-dinged-up-kind of trouble. If I were going by car, it would be a different story.
Also, this is a three-day event, which I didn't know till I looked at the page again last night. That means finding a suitable hotel (since the con isn't making arrangements with any hotels), and towing a suitcase along with the trains--on NJT/SEPTA.

Well, I'm schlepping and/or shipping about 20 trolleys/interurbans, all the track, at least five transformers, grass mats for the tables, signals, etc. on the plane from Arkansas PLUS I gotta stay an extra week for my niece's wedding the following weekend.
How do you think *I* feel?

Where was this?
The regulars at O Gauge Railroading forum tends to look down on those sorts of folks. I've been there since 2000 (under the same name). The moderators there keep a lid on things to the point that one other forum calls them "North Korea".
Besides, there are more rivet-counters in HO :D
