Urchin, from the Mistmantle Chronicles by M.I Mcallister.
I've been working on this sucker on and off for a couple of month, and I'm pretty pleased about how he's turned out. Might have to redo his right foot eventually though.

Yeah, i can see how you'd make that assumption. Mistmantle has some similarities to Redwall, the same types of critters,( except for mice and "vermin" species) and takes place in a quasi-medieval setting...

Looks very good! Though maybe the head is a bit too "flat" - stretching the snout a little might be a good idea. ;)

Ah, I see what you mean, he is rather pug nosed there. I'll have to mess around with it a little in Painter and see if I can fix it....or at least keep this in mined when I attempt to draw another squirrel. Thanks for the critique!

Oh I love that fur texture. It really seems soft as a feather. Beautiful choice of colors too, it makes the shadows so soft and warm. I feel like there's something wrong somewhere in the perspective of the muzzle but I can't put my finger on it... sorry... I hate to have a comment without any suggestion.

It's Urchin, awesome! I love the Mistmantle Chronicles, it's actually part of the inspiration for my character.^^

Sort of, only not.

Species does not give clues to a character's morality in Mistmantle, for instance.

Utterly gorgeous. There are a lot of lazy techniques on how to fake fur patterns going around on FA, but the fur on this little critter is fluid, convincing, and dynamic!

Nicely done.
