The War of the Amazon in old-skool Werewolf. This is supposed to be a relatively young and energetic mokole, not one of the really big old guys who were alive in the quilombos, or whatever.

Great looking croc.
I've been thinking a bit of this sort of creature in combat because of the gatormorph in my own comic and aside from a tail sweep, imagine how damaging it would be if one took a hold of someone's hand or foot and did the roll roll roll roll thing.
Anyway, great looking critter. I like the body design/proportions.

Thank you! And thank you for the suggestions about how such creatures might attack.
There's a lot of White Wolf stuff, where the Mokole are these evolutionary holdovers of the age of reptiles and their crinos (half-human) forms reflect that, but having them stay basically crocodiles made more sense and actually... I know everyone loves dinosaurs, but I think crocodillians are just as interesting.

Mokole were so cool... the book made them horrifically broken, though (buying up their age made their reptile/dino form keep getting bigger. A starting character could be the size of Godzilla, literally, and have unbeatable stats.) but if you agree not to abuse the system they can be awesome. I designed Lafitte as Mokole modern day African pirate, but the game she was for never took place....
Detailing the above a little bit more; my familiarity with the Mokole is thanks to the Player's Handbook. A superficial glimpse of them is pretty cool; you know, the croc thing, the Ife thing, the wildcards in the Amazon war thing. But I never read the Mokole book. When the Nuwisha book came out, of course I was all OOOH NUWISHA COOL MUST READ and then it turned out to be sort of lukewarm - so I didn't really poke at the other books.
It sounds like with the Mokole they did the traditional White Wolf thing of coming up with an absolutely beautiful, breathtakingly imaginative idea, and then exploring it in the dumbest of all possible ways.
I don't really dig the dinosaur thing. Crocodiles are cool enough without having to make them into dinosaurs as well. Crocs are 'way cool. They were perfectly functional critters back when the dinosaurs were around, they've been perfectly functional critters since, and they'd be really functional critters if humanity manages to extinct itself without taking the rest of the planet out on the way.

Well, it's more complex than that, so I'll give the full version. You judge it.
First, Mokole could be any reptile. The reason why will make more sense shortly. See, they're all descended from the same ancestor. Dinosaurs? No, they were also descended from the same ancestor, just much closer to that ancestor.
The Mokole are the descendants of dragons. The oldest and largest Mokole ARE dragons, and dragons can look like pretty much any giant god damned reptile you make up. So, there is a unifying principal at the core of it, and it frees one up to do other sorts of lizard men, but it also brings in dinosaur people, which are a bit harder to swallow, and then there's this idea that Africa has dragons, which is really funny considering that's one place WITHOUT legends of dragons...

The characterizations of the mokole were one of the main reasons i regret never getting to play a Werewolf game. I really like the sense of mass and power in the main figure, the powerful sweeping tail is done excellently, and the pose suggests that this is only a small effort for them.
