Thank you ^.^ - well, I've had some problems with the camera, it's digital and not mine, it's borrowed, so I think the next pictures will be better focused, clearer and brighter. I totally forgot to check all the settings at first ^^"" - I took such a funny picture of Matadi shaking his mane - unfortunately somebody just ran into the picture and spoilt it a bit, a shoulder shows at one bottom corner. :/
Might be able to crop out or blend over that with Photoshop? I've saved photos like that before, it seems sort of like cheating, but if it's the only shot you managed to get of an event, sometimes a little work is necessary.
I sure know what you mean about the unfamiliar hardware, though. I spent a couple weeks reading and practicing with my 350D before I even thought about leaving my Panasonic behind and taking only the Canon.

Well, of course I could have photoshopped it - but really - it'd be cheating to me ^^"" - to some extend. I want to take a perfect picture that does not need anything else anymore. I mean - I'm used to traditional cameras, it's either hit or miss. But I'm sure my pics will improve when I have used this camera several times :) - it does give me the opportunity to take pictures at all, I could not afford to let my films be developed right now.
That was actually one of the driving reasons I went to digital, I just couldn't afford the film and development for as many shots as I tended to take. I try to use photoshop sparingly, aside from adjusting exposure and the like, but sometimes you just need to if you want that shot to come out. It was the same with retouching a film photo, just easier with digital media. :)
Yeah, it's fairly complex. Oh well, if it was easy, everyone could do it. :) Don't feel bad, at the last basketball game I photographed, I took about 140 photos to get ten that I liked well enough to turn in. I figure that detting better will be measured in percentage of photos that come out right.
