Iris at times will under go this special training which is lava training.
It's as you see...she dips herself into lava, creating as thin a layer of silver as she can around herself. This not only helps polish up the silver she has and have her focus on hardening it to keep herself safe...but it also helps her learn to overcome extreme temperatures. Keeping her mind steady and at ease even in such dire situations~
How can she breathe? She uses the silver wall similar to a filer and drag in oxygen from her surroundings. This is Iris' special tank that she had prepped up in the basement for those specific lava training moments.
Of course it's also hooked up to a machine in case anything goes wrong....it will monitor her vitals, her core temperature etc to make sure no mishaps occur~♥♥

She isn't deep in the earth thankfully. She's still near enough to the surface to drag oxygen out from there and even then she could create a funnel with her silver to pull in oxygen from the top~♥♥
And yes silver is a metal but it's infused with her blood. She can control her silver in a way to give it insane properties~♥ Like becoming a hardened metal that DOESN'T melt easily in such heated temperatures~♥
