I think I qualify as "before it was cool" ... first art of my shark-related boob carrier was approximately late 2009 iirc, which would be near the beginning :p

I can remember when Mephitis Jezebel (Orange04) started selling their Shark av (On SecondLife), that the real start of all the hype as far as I know. I was well aware of it, but I was a poor schmuck and couldn't hop on the hype train.
Before that the only real other person to don the shark and was popular enough to be known was Renard's Mayhem.

Can't seem to specifically find when either of those started though. :c

Depends on if she uses them to breathe in general or as a land-dwelling shark she's also evolved lungs (like a lungfish). If she has evolved lungs, her gills would simply be there to allow her to breathe underwater as intended.

EDIT: ALSO, would chest-gills imply that she has 2 sets of lungs? Or would water just go through her existing lungs and go out the gills, cuz that would screw up the lungs themselves? Or are they some kind of hybrid super awesome lungs with gills at the bottom?

They're called nurse sharks because their eggs hatch inside of them - so it appears like they'd give birth like mammals, but they still don't have boobs.
