There's something to be said for a tactical or stealthy approach. If you really plan on assassinating someone, especially a powerful reptilian wizard, it's probably best not to walk right up to him and say, "I'm gonna kill you."

Er . . . when I said "make trouble," I meant attempt to thwart his plans. Turning people into reptiles and keeping them as pets is kind of a trophy taking activity for him; it's a way he rewards himself for defeating a foe.
If you just kind of be a minor nuisance, he's more likely to just use his Command spell and tell you to go jump in a lake. Filled with giant, flesh-eating leeches.
