Valnitus Chronicles: 3 – Gale of Dragon
In the shadow's of the night, stood a lone figure in what was a large stone temple hidden deep in the mountains. Nothing but the faint glow of a few torch lights positioned in the vast alter revealed the being's position. Long black hair flowed down his back, held in place by a deep blue strip of cloth at the base of his head. Sharp, black eyes darted back and forth as the being surveyed his surroundings. He wore a pure white Wing chun uniform, which only seemed to compliment the flowing black hair that ran down the length of his back. It moved in unison with his body, as if it were a long, fluffy tail when he darted to the side as two sharp knives flew towards him, hitting the training dummies just behind him. Several more of these sharp instruments made their way in the figure's direction, but gracefully he managed to avoid all but one, which he deflected with a fang shaped dagger, glowing faintly on the pommel of the weapon was an emerald gem. The handle itself was that of a dragon set in a coiled position with two great clawed hands acting as the guard.
Several lanterns suddenly burst to life, bringing the room to a warm half light. The figure was revealed to be a young human boy, 16 years of age. He placed the emerald dagger into it's casing and strapped it at his waist. Stepping towards him was a man of taller stature, around 6'8, he had oddly reptillian eyes, emerald, with slits instead of pupils, his white hair running wild among his features as if it were a mane. Wearing the same uniform as the boy, except with a black design and gold lining he crouched to meet him at eye level. “You were sloppy. There's no way any of those knives should have come anywhere near you. What troubles you Tso?”
The boy remained calm, looking into those feral looking eyes as he searched for the right answer. “Lord Stratus, There is a strange wind blowing. It feels distorted...I can't make it out!”
Stratus remained crouched down to Tso, simply staring into his eyes before pulling back up to full height. “So then you sense it too then?”
“Yes sir.” Tso took a deep breath, stretching his limbs while keeping an eye out for any surprise attacks. “The wind is disturbed in many regions of japan, but I feel it strongest in the Kanto region. I've had many restless nights since the wind's been out of control. I'd like to request assessing the situation myself Master.”
Stratus was already walking away from his young pupil. He stepped over to the third support pillar to the left of the temple's entrance, and removed a few floor mats. As he did so he revealed a backed duffel bag as well as a wallet. “I already anticipated you would be requesting leave. So I had this prepared for you during your mountain hikes. I've already reserved a hotel for you to stay in for a few days in a city called Shinjuku. I've arranged for you to travel by train.”
When Tso stepped towards him, he held back the bag as well as the wallet. “Remember...We are warriors, but many of the modern day have given up the way of the martial arts for more...deceitful arts. So always watch your back in the city, and don't attract to much attention. That goes for both you AND YOU Tempest.”
looking to his waist, Tso noted the Emerald on the pommel of his dagger began to glow dimly, then a voice echoed across the room. [I have no intentions of revealing myself to your kind. If your folk tales are any indication, if someone see's my kind they're liable to shoot it with those infernal contraptions you call guns.]
apparently, Stratus could hear the voice from the weapon as well, for he gave a short nod. Handing both the duffel and Wallet to Tso, who placed the latter in his uniform. “We'll make you proud Master. And I'll send word as soon as we've located the source of the wind's disturbance.”
Sunday morning, Toshiro's day started off as normal. OR at least as normal as one could get with a Raptor's tail occasionally smacking your face in your sleep.
Cooking a few eggs, Toshiro mumbled a bit under his breath while Virtue poked his head from the other side of the counter. “Why are eggs in this world so small?” The raptor asked, looking innocent, almost puppy like as he sat patiently, tail swaying behind him lazily.
“They're raised from chickens. They're not especially large birds. Though they're bigger than your common blue jay...” Toshiro replied quietly. He wanted to make sure that he had an even distrubution of heat between each egg so that they cooked evenly, while on the side he had a set of Bacon sizzling in a small pan. “Bacon and eggs are a pretty common breakfast meal. It's healthy for you too! Well...Healthy in moderation. With as much bacon grease you'll consume...if you were human you'd be suffering a heart attack.”
Toshiro's last comment fell on deaf ears, as Virtue lifted the plate up with the tips of his claws and pretty much dumped the contents into his mouth, munching on his portions with glee. “Mmmm well common as it is I don't recall anything as tasty on Valnitus!”
The sentence intrigued Toshiro, who was nibbling on a strip of bacon while turning off the stove. Today was the fourth day of Virtue's awakening on earth. Since then, the larger than life Raptor had been very curious about Earth's cuisine. Questioning Toshiro on every detail as he prepared every meal. And in turn, the young human would ask him about the details the dinosaur COULD remember about his old world.
“I still don't recall everything...But I recall that the land of Ignus is a harsh desolate land. Almost the entire ground within it's borders is scorched, the reason being our clan has the most aggressive Valnitians. We thrive for battle, Hunger for it. But we don't go out causing strife because of it. Or at least...I don't...” Virtue nibbled on his last few strips of Bacon and guzzled down a carton of milk.
“Well I guess that makes sense.” Toshiro grabbed a piece of toast from the side. He'd given the majority of eggs to Virtue so he had only a few strips of bacon and a couple slices of lightly cooked toast. “And what about Necros. I recall you saying that they were tricksters.”
The Raptor grumbled, wiping a bit of milk from his lips as he stared down at his companion. “They thrive in the darkness. They have no set land for themselves because of this, but they are the beings that single handedly dominate the night. They are nomads. Searching for a place to call their own but the other clans have already staked their claim over several regions. But for the most part they share Terrarius's landscape as they hold the most territory over the rest of us.”
“Judging by how you mention the name. I'm assuming Terrarius is the clan than is affiliated with the earth on Valnitus. It sounds a lot like a game that I played in Liz's home.” Toshiro muttered, finishing his last pieces of food and washing it down with some OJ. “In any case, We should get to the bus stop. We're supposed to meet Liz and Axel there.”
With a snort, Virtue began glowing as he shaped down into the form of the Sunstone pendant, which was then gently placed around the human's neck. “You mentioned that last night. What is it you're planning to do? Shouldn't you be going to school?”
While putting on his jacket, Toshiro made sure he had all of his belongings, from his wallet to the house keys and decided to speak in a low tone as he stepped out. “We don't have school on Sunday. This is a day off so all the kids can just relax and not think about class. Besides! We promised to show Axel around the town today. What better place than to show him...as well as YOU, Shinjuku park.”
with apparent excitement, Toshiro bounded down the sidewalk. Thankfully from his place the bus stop wasn't TOO far away from walking distance. And after two corners he stood at the sign along with several other people. One of which was Lizzie who looked a bit upset about his tardyness. He couldn't well tell her that he was late because he was cooking for two people in his house. And he most certainly couldn't explain how a Raptor came about living with him! She'd think he was nuts! So he came up with the best excuse that would shy away from those two subjects. “I kind of overslept. We all planned to go and do something today, but I spent most of the night coming up with a schedule for our day. I didn't bring it with me but I remember everything VERY thoroughly.”
Though Liz seemed mildly satisfied with the explanation, Virtue however had plenty to say. He even teased the boy a bit. [You didn't make any sort of schedule. If she's going to become your mate you shouldn't lie to her so much.]
The comment left Toshiro's cheeks red, as he whispered under his breath. “She's not my girlfriend...”
A soft chuckle was the raptor's only response, when the city bus stopped in front of them. “Axel will be waiting for us on the next stop. After that it's a quick bus ride to Shinjuku park.” Toshiro said cheerily, standing back for Liz to step in before climbing aboard and sitting beside her. Though his embarrassment grew even further when Liz leaned against him, resting her head against his shoulder. “Seems like you didn't get a lot of sleep either.”
“I tried but I kept hearing voices in the house. Every now and then I'd go out to see what was going on. Then when I DID go to sleep, I'd have the strangest dreams. It always involved a white horse with velvety soft wings...it even had a green shining horn just between it's eyes. Every time I tried to approach it, it kept looking at me with these...knowing eyes.” As Liz continued to describe the visions she was having, she smiled. “It's like the horse...or should I say Pegasus was waiting for me.”
As he listened to her recount her dreams of last night, Toshiro started feeling unnerved. [It sounds like the creature inside of her earrings is trying to come out...]
[If there's a connection between the two of them, you can't interfere Toshiro. Let her come to the conclusion and stay out of it.] Was Virtue's only response on the matter.
Virtue didn't seem at all worried, so Toshiro decided that for right now, neither would he. He just hoped that if something DID happen, that he'd be able to help her sort through it. After a five minute bus ride, they came to their first stop, which Axel had been the only one to board, must have been a slow day.
Stepping towards Tosh and Liz, Axel sat on the bus seat to the left. “So you're going to give Synn and I the full tour of the city right?”
“Synn? Who is Synn?” Liz asked with a tilt of her head, and felt an air of suspicion around the boy when the fancy dressed kid covered his mouth.
Spontaneously, Tosh poked her shoulder. “Synn is the name of his cell phone. He wants to take snapshots of the sites we're visiting so he can show them to his baby cousin.”
Axel nodded a few times, taking out a smart phone from his pocket. “My cousin's 12. She doesn't get out much and she wanted me to take a few pictures around town. She also wanted me to buy her...a giant bat plush.”
[heh heh...more like she want's Synn to herself.] Remarked Virtue who suddenly started making many groaning sounds as Toshiro waved him about around his neck. [oogh...kid stop that! You're making me dizzy!]
That got a grin out of Toshiro, who gave the pendant a few more swings before letting it rest. In time, the bus stopped at their destination, at which point the friendly trio stepped off and started observing their surroundings.
The park was rather spacious. With many people having decided to take their days off to enjoy the natural beauty of their surroundings. Families were sitting on blankets, having friendly picnics while tourists were spending their time taking pictures. With a laugh, Toshiro turned to face Axel who was taking it all in. “We came at the right time. Shinjuku park is best enjoyed during the springtime.”
Liz had separated from the boys to gaze up at a pair of cheery blossom trees. Some of the pink petals flying in the wind as she fixed her hair. “Hey Toshiro?” She asked silently. Her hand running through strands of hair. “Why don't we take him to our special place?”
“Special place?” Axel inquired with a look of interest. And given the dimming of the Moonstone bracelet, Synn was of the same interest.
Toshiro placed a hand on Axel's shoulder and started push him forward. Another second later he walked ahead, letting Liz take the lead so he could speak in private to Synn and Axel. “When Liz and her father moved to Japan they had no idea what they were going to do. They were thrust into a world that they never thought they'd be put in. My dad was partially the reason her father is now a big part of the Shinjuku police force.” He took a moment to catch his breath, answering a few questions that Virtue himself had, before resuming. “After their move, my parents thought it'd be a good idea to show them our own slice of paradise so we took them here to Shinjuku park.”
“And this is where we're going now?” With a blink, Axel started digging through his pocket and began taking snapshots of the area they were in. Doing such for every new strip of land that they walked across. “I think my cousin's going to love these pictures. She told me the last time she was out here was when she was four years old.”
Toshiro smiled, fumbling in his own pocket and took out a thin wooden whistle, just rubbing the sides with his thumb. “So what about you? You've never actually told US where it is you come from before you moved with your uncle.”
Axel glanced at the whistle and smirked. “I'll tell you if you tell me why you're carrying that around. You're not planning to blow it are you?”
Looking down at his whistle, Toshiro couldn't help but smirk. “This little thing? WELL if you must know. My mom hand carved this during our first trip out here.” Tosh lifted up the wood instrument and showed him a mark of the sun carved out on it's side. “I was maybe...seven years old when she first made this. The story she made of it, was that if you blow this whistle in Shinjuku park and make a wish, it'll come true.”
“I see!” Axel was sure that Toshiro knew that such a prospect was false, but still he had to ask. If not for his own curiosity, then for Synn's. “So...what is it you plan to wish for when you DO blow on it?”
It was several seconds before Toshiro would answer. For the most part as they walked, he just stared into the wooden piece. “Today's wish will be -” He was caught off balance as the earth shook around them.
Looking around, for any sign of Liz, he looked more than a little irritable that she had run off. “Axel!” He shouted out, trying to retain his footing. “We need to find Liz and get to shelter!!”
[Kid! Listen to me. This isn't an ordinary quake.] Virtue growled, his pendant form shimmering against Toshiro's chest, the same as it had when they first met Synn. [There's a Valnitian nearby.]
Toshiro groaned, surveying the area to make sure that the normal picnic goers were evacuating then invoked Virtues name, waiting for the massive fire raptor to shape into his fighting form. “Where? Can you sense WHERE exactly it's coming from?”
“If you want an accurate estimate I'd say underground.” Virtue snorted, before nodding. “Yeah. It's heading in our direction.”
Toshiro stood by Virtue's side, then shouted to Axel. “Virtue says that whatever's coming...is coming OUR way.”
Having already summoned Synn, he was grasping one of those arm wings for support and shouted back. “I heard! We'll be next to useless in battle during the daytime though!!”
With a growl, Toshiro clenched Virtue's tail. “Climb onto Synn and look for Liz. Just get her out of the park.”
“But that would cause a paniaaaa!” Axel's objections were cut off when Synn picked him up and took flight with his remaining two wings.
When Axel and Synn were out of sight, and he couldn't hear Axel's complaining, he turned his attention back to Virtue. “So...Which direction?”
as if Virtue was ignoring his companion, he started craning his head around. Then with narrowed eyes he lowered himself into a crouch as he pointed a claw. “Over there.” He had been pointing between two cherry trees.
Squinting his eyes, Toshiro tried to see whatever it was that Virtue could see. “I don't-” He cut himself off, climbing onto Virtue's back as if on instinct as the great raptor rushed to the side just as an armored anthro bull jumped out of their most recent location. The bull was of a light brown coloration and wore set of ebony black bracers and chest plate. Protruding from the bovine's shoulders was a set of ten inch horns of the same ebony coloration as his armor. Like Virtue, it towered well over average human height but was a good two feet shorter than the raptor.
With a snort, the bull looked over the both of them and bellowed. “You two! I've been looking for you. This world is such a drag. All the creatures here are so frail and helpless, nobody here could ever hope to challenge me! But you two...you look like you'd be something worth my time!!”
Virtue growled low, crouching so that Toshiro could climb right off his body and whispered quietly. “Stay back. This could get ugly.”
Doing as Virtue asked, Toshiro carefully made his way back to the ground and stepped away. Watching from a more comfortable distance. Once the Raptor was satisfied, he allowed himself to breath. “The Terrarius clan I presume? From what I recall...it's your drive for combat that gave your kind half of Valnitus's landscape.”
“And Ignus didn't benefit from their recklessness? Everything your clan touches becomes merely ash.” The Bull huffed a bit, chuckling. “The only difference is that when WE conquer other lands, we don't make it uninhabitable.”
The remark only served to anger Virtue, who growled in response. “Fire burns hot in our blood. But we've learned how to control our flames so that past mistakes won't be repeated. Tell me, where is your human companion?”
The bull tilted his head. “Probably dozing off in the middle of an alley. I knocked the kid out after he managed to set me free.” While the reply seemed to visually stun Virtue, the bull continued. “I won't stand to be tied down to a human, but I didn't think he deserved to be punished for something he had no control over. So instead of simply killing him...I put him to sleep.”
“Even if you didn't kill him...I don't think he deserved deception from you.” Steam was beginning build from his nostrils. Another moment later, Virtue got into a crouching position with claws extended. “I'm going to teach you respect. Your FUN, caused a peaceful park like this to be evacuated. And I was looking forward to seeing more of it. And most importantly, you ruined an innocent kid's day. I'm going to make sure you apologize.”
“BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!” The bull started laughing hysterically. Stopping himself moments later with a hand on it's stomach. “You're pretty funny. An Ignus talking about respect! Well we'll see about that.”
Toshiro could only listen quietly. The thought occurred to him that the creature dwelling inside of Liz's own earrings could very well be just as destructive and he wouldn't know it.
Virtue and the Bovine charged forward. Their hands locking into one another as they struggled for domination over the other. In this instance, it was a good thing that the park had evacuated because this was starting to look like a monster movie. For a time, it looked like their battle would end in a stalemate. But Virtue's tail moved like a whip, while it did not strike at the Bull, it did distract the armored beast long enough for the Raptor to wrap his claws around one of those armored arm's and threw him into the ground, back first.
The bull's spikes embedded themselves into the earth. Trapping the guy in a way he found none too amusing. With Virtue's smug expression not helping matters, the bull revealed sharp pointed teeth as the earth bent and buckled around him. The ground crumbled around his spikes, giving him what he needed to get back up and charged into Virtue with a football tackle, knocking him into one of the many tree's in the park, getting a coughing groan out of the reptile.. “Hah! You're better than the humans at least!” The Bull remarked with a smirk.
“You know what...The way you're badmouthing humans ticks me off.” Virtue growled out each word. He grabbed ahold of the bull's shoulder, but when he found he could not push the guy back. He wrapped his thick, flame covered tail around his adversaries leg, and yanked!
With the tail wrapping around his leg, he barely had time to yelp before he was dragged down. The bull looking dumbfounded, though that look was replaced with a cringe when Virtue's gaping mouth loomed over him. He tried to move aside but realized his leg was still caught up, and a second later, the raptor unleashed a large stream of fire that engulfed the bull's frame. It made for a stunning light show, and the more amazing fact was that though the flames licked at a few trees, none caught fire. It was a sight that to the side, Toshiro could truly appreciate.
Virtue kept the flame going for about half a minute. When he was satisfied that he succeeded in doing what he had intended, he snapped his jaws closed. Looking pleased at what now stood infront of him. The once brown bull, had now become a charred black, most of it's short fur having been burned off. “I think YOUR fight is over.”
the bull coughed a few puffs of smoke. And shot an angry glare in Virtue's direction. Then, with effort, peeled the raptor's tail from his leg and charged once more, this time causing the raptor to crash right THROUGH the tree he was pinned against.
This fight was dragging on way too long in Toshiro's opinion. While Virtue was holding his ground against this new adversary, the damage being done to the park was what mattered most. Not to mention, Virtue was only barely avoiding being impaled by those sharp spikes on the bull's shoulders. It made for a dangerous situation and it was only a matter of time before a mistake was made. Without regard for his own safety, he ran to the Raptor's side, climbing on his back. “We need to end this fight! You won't be able to enjoy the scenery if we trash the whole park.”
“Nnngh...I know that!” Virtue groaned, pulling himself up and looking more than a little annoyed by Toshiro's interference. “All of my attacks are fire based though...And I'm afraid I might do more harm than good if I keep this up.”
Toshiro gave Virtue a pat on the shoulder, and smirked. “Listen...this guy's bent on proving his mettle through you. So I think it's a safe bet that he'd follow you if you flee.”
“What?! I'm not running from a fight!!” The raptor roared, angry at the suggestion and tried shaking his companion off.
Toshiro was having none of it. He held firmly to Virtue's scales and climbed his way up to the neckline. “Just listen quietly and do as I say.” He began leaning over to whisper into Virtue's ear. When he was finished, the raptor's eyes went wide. The idea was so simple, it made sense. And it only went to prove why the human was the top of his class. “So would that be good enough to satisfy your pride?”
Virtue's only response was a nod. On the inside, he was kicking himself for not thinking about it himself. But then, in the heat of battle it was always difficult to keep a clear head. With a turn of his heels, the raptor immediately began taking off, rushing out of the scene.
“You're running?! Like I'll let you!” The bull roared, giving chase to the pair.
Liz was deep in the park, having taken a short cut that left her lost and fumbling around off the beaten path. The last thing she remembered was the rumbling quake that shook her. And in a rush to find safety she ran wherever her feet would take her. “Erm...Toshiro! Axel?!” the girl called out. Looking more than a little worried by her new predicament. “We need to get out of this park guys!!”
with a groan, Liz tried to find her way back. But right now she didn't trust her judgment at all. But she stopped dead in her tracks when she caught sight of a strange creature looming above her on an adjacent hill. It was a feral green wolf, staring down at her as if trying to figure out what to do with her. It's eyes were eerily intelligent. As if gleaning what it needed to know about Liz just from her eyes alone. Then, in a soft, feminine voice, the canine spoke. “I can take you out of the park and to your friends.”
The statement left Liz's jaws hanging about a foot wide! {Did...Did that wolf just speak!?}
“Follow me or don't. It's up to you.” The wolf replied calmly. Giving her a quick glance, before leaping off the hill she was resting on and started padding away. Her tail twitched a bit, and she stopped between a set of trees. “Your friends will be waiting for you. Wouldn't be such a good idea to keep them worrying over you.”
When the wolf said no more, and started prancing off, Liz hesitantly followed along. “Hey wait for me!”
“Take a left! Then keep going straight!” Toshiro advised, then with a yelp held tight around Virtue's neck when the raptor made a sharp turn.
“Now you tell me!” Virtue panted, continuing his sprint, being mindful of the landscape and sighed when he finally caught sight of their destination. “so this is it. Now I see why this would be our best shot.”
There was a quick nod from Toshiro, who held close as Virtue came sliding to a stop just infront of a large steel cage that walled off the area. Turning to face the Bull that had been giving chase to them.
There was a heavy grunt, followed by several breaths from their chaser. The bull started closing in on them with a smug smile on his face. “Looks like you've run out of gas. Now I'm going to tear you both apart!” With a smack of it's hoof on the ground, the earth behind him began to rise. Creating a barrier wall that blocked the only exit.
Virtue and Tosh looked towards one another, then burst into laughter. Climbing off the raptor's back, Toshiro turned to face the bull from behind his companion and smiled. “You might have muscles but you're not very bright. Take a look around you. You gave us everything we needed.”
The bull did just that, and for a moment his face went pale. “You conniving little runt!”
The look on the bovine's face left a smirk on Virtue's own muzzle as he got down into a crouching position. The flames on his body began to grow, enveloping the reptilian inch by inch. “Right here I can go all out. Now let's work on that punishment!”
The bull let out a howl of frustration, before charging forward, spike protruding outward to impale Virtue, however...
Virtue opened his jaws, and a massive inferno came spilling from his jaws. The torrent of fire that burst forth was so large, that had the bull not created that barrier of earth, he would have set most of the park ablaze. Due to that barrier, the fire had no means of escape except to the sky, where it became a pillar of flame that extended a few hundred feet.
Covering his eyes, and shielding his head as a whole from the flames, Toshiro would come to realize that despite the great blaze that enveloped them, none of it seemed to touch him. The heat was intense that was for sure, and he appreciated the fact that Virtue was on HIS side.
When the flames finally subsided, and Virtue closed those jaws of his, the Bull was standing there, completely charred, his armor having broken apart. Then in a blast of light, the beast simply vanished and was replaced with a bronze figurine. His sealed form as far as Virtue and Toshiro were concerned. And when he had been forced back into such, the wall of earth sunk back into the ground, returning to it's natural formation.
With that done, Virtue promptly fell back, resting on his back and just narrowly missing squashing Toshiro. The flames on his body vanishing. “Can we eat now...?”
Looking just as fatigued, Toshiro gave Virtue a pat on the snout, sitting beside him. “When we get home...We need to get out of the park and find Axel and Liz. They should be safe now.”
Axel had long since recalled Synn back into his moonstone bracelet. Now he was searching frantically for Liz, outside of the park. Which thankfully, only moments later after the fire show, he could see her running towards him. “Hey! Where were you?!”
“Paaardon me! I was trying to get to safety. Then this wolf came to show me the way back out of the park. She said you guys would be right here!” Liz remarked, turning to find the wolf but it had since vanished. Strange.
It took another ten or so minutes, but Toshiro made his way out of the park, his clothes caked in dirt, He looked positively exhausted. And when Liz came to hug him, he nearly fell over but managed to keep himself upright. “Hey...you guys are both safe!” Toshiro couldn't hide the relief on his face. To see his friends safe and sound, it made their whole ordeal worth it.
“Dummy! You're the last person to get out of the park! What if there had been an aftershock!” Liz chided, pointing a finger and poking Toshiro in the chest. “Next time be more timely!”
“Yes ma'am...” Toshiro rubbed the back of his head, though through his connection with Virtue he could sense the dinosaur's amusement. “I think we should get back home. I'm sure your parents are worried sick about you and they'll want to know that you're okay.”
As they started walking back to the bus stop, Liz continued to berate Toshiro and Axel. The two of which simply took the brunt of their punishment without allowing the knowledge of what had really transpired to be known to Liz.
Back in the park, the same green wolf that had assisted Liz, padded into the scene of the battlefield. And sniffed at the bronze figure that was left in the middle of the clearing. “Tsk tsk...had you not run off without becoming accustomed to this world you might not have lost so bad. I'm sure your human companion will want to have you back. Maybe you should try bonding with him just like Virtue had.”
Whatever reply the bull made, had the wolf's ears twitching a bit. Followed by a sly grin as she grabbed the statue in her mouth, and started sprinting off the scene.
With a deep breath, Tso finally got off the bus he'd been riding on. The crowded streets of Shinjuku making him shift a bit on his clothing. “So...this is the source of the disturbance...”
[Let's get checked into the Hotel Tso. After you rest we can begin our investigation.] Tempest remarked, The jewel that ornamented the blade on the boy's waist faintly shimmering.
“That's what I was thinking too.” The young warrior stretched his limbs out, carrying a small slip of paper that held the directions to his lodgings. For him, the next couple weeks would be an interesting adventure.

The statement left Liz's jaws hanging about a foot wide! {Did...Did that wolf just speak!?}
