Ok so I said I would try to experiment with my greyscale technique to make it more "clean" and less "sketchy" and this is the first result! :D [also using more references helps too haha] But I figured out a bunch of stuff that should be quite useful for my further greyscale sketches! ^^
But the main reason I am posting this now, and not in a sketchdump, is because I have a question. So I have been debating whether or not to give my anthro characters whiskers or not... it wouldn't be much of a change because they would barely be visible [so not drawn] from farther away, but up close like in this portrait they would be visible. So do they make it look good or better? Let me know what you think!
I think it comes down to how animal-like my anthros are. I am still planning on borrowing heavily from the animal side while still keeping them intelligent creatures, with things like my anthros [especially the cats] clean themselves and show affection with licking just as real animals do, and they can make many of the same vocalizations and noises [such as cheetahs chirping] and the cats being able to purr [yes Ti'maar can purr :P], as well as many of the same instincts, mannerisms, and behaviors being present. So there are plenty of things still like the animal but I have many more to choose from like the whiskers :P [which I'm leaning towards yes on lol] But in general I like to think of my anthros as "evolved too quickly" from the animal form [due to the process of how they came to be created in the story] so there is still that weird in-between :P It makes them more interesting than just being humans with fur and an animal head :P
But let me know what you think about this new greyscale technique, as well as if you like them with whiskers or not! ^^ Thank you! :D
