I've doodled a few lil Gastlings over on my instagram and people seem to like them a lot so I made a species ref for them! These are an open species to have fun with!
Im just gunna type out some of whats on the ref sheet in case people have a hard time reading it.
Gastlings are Gastropod type creatures. There are two variants of Gastlings, Salt water and Fresh water types.
Salt water types live in the ocean and spend most of their time in the sea. They're slimy lil creatures, and have 'wings' on their backs and tails. This type of Gastling usually come in brighter colours than their Fresh water siblings.
Fresh water types spend most of their time on land, but prefer dark, damp places. This type is extra slimy, making them hard to keep a hold of. They have 'shells' on there backs and frills on their tails. Sometimes Fresh water types can develop dew laps from excess water in their bodies.
Gastlings reproduce asexually, their tails grow large and eggs split away from them.
Their eggs are then left in bodies of water. Salt water types are very protective of their eggs, while Fresh water types are much more relaxed about the care of their eggs. They go through a life cycle much like a frogs!
Gastlings are generally happy, chirpy creatures than enjoy the company of others. Though Salt water types tend to be a little more active than Fresh water types.
They come in many different shapes and sizes. Take the examples on this sheet as a base to build on and change! Have fun and get creative when designing your Gastling.
If you do make a Gastling please credit me for the species!!
